Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport won a one-million-dollar grant to help start offering nonstop flights to Chicago. B-T-R was one of 14 airports to receive a grant, and Director of Aviation Mike Edwards says the money will help incentivize a carrier to launch the service.
The grant issued through the U-S Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Deployment Program is the same as the one that helped launch direct flights to Washington, D.C. Edwards says that service is still going strong.

Edwards says Chicago has been the airport’s top non-direct destination since it established the Washington, D.C. service. He says nonstop flights to Chicago will improve connectivity in Baton Rouge.

President Donald Trump wants to build a Space Academy in the United States and Louisiana officials believe it should be in the Bayou State. Greater New Orleans Inc, president and CEO Michael Hecht says the New Orleans area would be the perfect place. Hecht says there’s already rocket factory in New Orleans East, NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility…
The space academy would be led by NASA and it would educate future scientists, engineers, astronauts and warfighters to advance American interests across the aerospace sector. States have until October 26th to submit a proposal. Hecht says the competition is fierce…

The Saints got their first win of the season with a 24-17 upset of the Ravens. New Orleans trailed 14-6 at the half but scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Head coach Kellen Moore says the black and gold are resilient.

Quarterback Tyler Shough completed nearly 80-percent of his passes for 252 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 23 yards and the go-ahead touchdown to cap off the comeback with under two minutes remaining. Shough says he doesn’t feel any pressure in the moment.
After a allowing long field-goal drive to start the third quarter, the Saints’ defense forced back-to-back three-and-outs to set up the comeback. Safety Julian Blackmon made the game-sealing interception on Baltimore’s final drive.
Saints left tackle Kelvin Banks was carted off the field with an ankle injury near the end of the third quarter.
