Judge Kent Savoie is not adding additional prison time to former DeRidder’ mayor Misty Roberts sentence. Roberts was sentenced in June to 90 days in jail for having sex with a 16-year-old boy while she was the mayor. The Beauregard Parish District Attorney’s Office asked Judge Savoie to reconsider the sentence, but Judge Savoie denied the motion. Roberts’ 90-day sentence ends in September. She will have to register as a sex offender.
A new survey shows more than a third of U-S workers have pushed back retirement in the last three years. LSU New Orleans business professor Mark Rosa says inflation is a big reason, saying it’s gotten so bad that people are raiding their retirement accounts just to meet their monthly obligations.
