Qualifying for the U.S. House elections got underway today. Gabe Firment is among those who qualified in district five. He said he will never lose sight of the fact that serving in Congress means serving his constituents.
Firment did not qualify the first time around; he jumped into the race after the district was redrawn. That’s a sentiment shared by Stewart Cathey, who also qualified this morning after not previously running.

Michael Echols, Austin Magee and Dan McKay are the other candidates who have qualified so far. Because of the condensed timeline, the U.S. House elections will revert back to the open primary this year, so all candidates from all parties will appear on the same ballot. McKay is the lone Democratic qualifier in district five so far.
The Lane Kiffin era is officially underway at LSU, now that practice number one of fall camp is in the books. Kiffin says the first day was awesome, and this team has a lot of potential.

Kiffin’s biggest challenge is getting his team to play like one, with more than half of his team being newcomers this year.
Louisiana Tech joins a national initiative to strengthen the semiconductor workforce. Arden Moore, the director of the Institute for Micromanufacturing at Louisiana Tech, says a big part of this partnership is the sharing of resources, including training materials and training exercises.
