SEC fans’ week of waiting on the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes will continue. Ole Miss Athletics Director Keith Carter announced a decision regarding their head coach’s future will come next Saturday following the Rebels’ Egg Bowl matchup with Mississippi State Friday. Carter and Kiffin met earlier today and agreed to focus on closing out their current 10-and-1 regular season campaign. Ole Miss was previously rumored to want a decision from Kiffin before the Egg Bowl, and if he were to leave Oxford, he would not coach the sixth-ranked Rebels during their likely College Football Playoff run.
The LSU Board of supervisors authorized new University President Wade Rousse to formally fire Brian Kelly. Board Chair Scott Ballard announced the motion’s unanimous approval.

The second round of the Louisiana high school playoffs kick off tonight. In Division Two, the Franklin Parish Patriots host the Lutcher Bulldogs. Spencer Verrett of the LHSAA Network says he could see either team making a run, but he expects the Patriots to come out on top.

Last year the Patriots’ season ended in the quarterfinals, losing 42-28 to Iowa.
Louisiana Tech is down to two quarterbacks after sophomore Evan Bullock exited last week’s game with an upper-body injury in the 28-3 loss to Washington State. Junior Trey Kukuk (Q-kuhk) will be the starter for this week’s game against Liberty, and head coach Sonny Cumbie says the entire offense will have to elevate its play.
