A pall of sadness hovered over one of the most festive areas in in the world until it was reopened yesterday afternoon. Andrew Greenstein talked with people passing by Bourbon Street prior to its reopening.

University Medical Center says it treated 26 patients following the terrorism attack and 16 remain hospitalized, including eight that are in intensive care. The FBI says Shamsud-Din Jabbar acted alone.

A new Congress will be sworn in at 11 AM this morning and Baton Rouge Democrat Cleo Fields is returning to the U-S House of Representatives. Fields represented Louisiana in Congress from 1993 to 1997 and he wants to re-start the Education Caucus again….

And Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson wants to remain as House Speaker, but he can’t afford to have any more defections from Republicans in his effort to keep the gavel.

In the Sugar Bowl last night, Notre Dame defeated Georgia 23 to 10. The play of the game came late in the second quarter when the Fighting Irish recovered a strip sack fumble of Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton. Georgia Coach Kirby Smart says they were trying to score before halftime…
