Republican Jeff Landry was sworn in as Louisiana’s 57th governor as the sun set on Baton Rouge yesterday. The inauguration was moved up a day, because of expected bad weather today. Landry is planning to hold a special session in February to pass legislation that could roll back some of the criminal justice reform measures approved in 2017.
The southern half of the state is bracing for the possibility of severe weather today. Southeast Louisiana could see the strongest storms. Tornadoes and flash flooding are possible, large hail and also severe wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
