The Common Court battle is scheduled to be heard in a courtroom today. This lawsuit is filed by parents and educators who accuse Governor Jindal of going beyond his authority to block the Common Core Assessment test. Another hearing is set for Friday. The Lafayette man who is accused of killing 15-year-old Austin Rivault in February of 2013 has had his trial delayed for a fourth time. A Cameron Parish judge agreed to move Seth Fontenot’s trial from September 22nd to December 1st yesterday. Fontenot is facing charges of murder and attempted murder. The victims were allegedly shot by Fontenot and he claims he thought they were robbing him.

Joining Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden and Plaqumines Parish President Billy Nungesser in the 2015 race for Lt. Governor is Jefferson Parish President John Young. Young made the announcement to the media today. The Lt. Governor seat is being left open by Jay Dardenne who intends to run for Governor next year.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will hold a series of public meetings across the state to provide an update on black bear research. Large Carnivore Program Manager, Maria Davidson says the animal could be taken off of the Endangered Species list if the population numbers are strong enough. She says that’ll be up to the US Fish and Wildlife Service..:
