The ballots are set for the November Congressional elections. In the sixth district, New Iberia Senator Blake Miguez entered the race, despite his primary address not being in the district. His big opposition will be fellow state senator and Baton Rouge Republican Rick Edmonds.
In the fifth district, nine candidates have signed up, four of them are state lawmakers. Republicans Michael Echols, Gabe Firment and Stewart Cathey and Monroe Democrat Pat Moore. Board of Regents Chairwoman Misti Cordell is also in the race.

Caddo Parish Representative Danny McCormick is working on a bill to ban AI-powered Flock cameras that read license plates and vehicle details and log them in a searchable database. McCormick says the cameras violate the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.
