If you’ve noticed more lovebugs around lately, that’s to be expected. The end of summer brings their second mating season each year. LSU AgCenter entomologist Aaron Ashbrook says lovebugs are most abundant in moist environments like marshes, swamps and wooded areas where organic material is decomposing. He says their larvae serve a useful purpose by helping return nutrients to the soil.
