LSU women’s basketball great Sylvia Fowles was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday. Fowles helped the Lady Tigers to four straight Final Fours, averaging a double-double and being named SEC and National Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-American along the way. The Florida native says it was head coach Sue Gunter who brought her to Baton Rouge.

The College Baseball transfer portal closes tomorrow, and LSU Coach Jay Johnson has lost a pitcher he was counting on for the future. Marcos Paz (Pause) entered the transfer portal on Friday and there’s speculation the Texas native will sign with the Aggies.

 

The Manning Passing Academy brought some of the top college quarterbacks in the nation to Thibodaux this past weekend. Texas quarterback Arch Manning will return to his home state November 14 as the Tigers host the Longhorns. The New Orleans native says he’s looking forward to playing in Death Valley.

Manning along with Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr are among the early favorites to win the Heisman.

The knock out round of the World Cup got underway yesterday and Canada defeated South Korea one to nothing. It’s the first time Canada has advanced to the Round of 16.

Three more elimination games today, starting at noon as Brazil faces Japan. At 3:30 it is Germany versus Paraguay and the final game of the night is Morocco versus the Netherlands.

The United States plays again on Wednesday night against Bosnia in Santa Clara, California. The Americans went two and one in Group play.
