At the urging of New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno, special prosecutor Laurie White has dismissed the 16-count felony indictment against Attorney General Liz Murrill. Tulane University political science professor Mike Sherman says it was Moreno’s way to turn down the political temperature.

But at a press conference today, Murrill said she wants to know how the grand jury concluded to indict her on malfeasance and public intimidation charges when she says she did not break the law.

Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall in St. Bernard Parish this afternoon with 45-miles per hour winds. There’s some coastal flooding, but this storm is expected to bring very little rain to Louisiana, since the heaviest rainfall and the strongest storms are south of the circulation.
