New Orleans Sports Foundation President and CEO Jay Cicero says money raised by the Premier Season Ticket Raffle will help it bid on major sporting events at a time when New Orleans faces increasing competition.
Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says the legislative session was a good one for his department. He says one new law passed by lawmakers increases the annual aggregate limit of fines his office can issue, noting that the old caps were ten-thousand dollars for insurance professionals and 100-thousand dollars for insurance companies.

The man shot dead by Shreveport Police early Sunday morning was from Baton Rouge. He’s been identified as 27-year-old Timothy Christian. Investigators say Christian was involved in an altercation outside a bar and was wildly firing a gun. One shot hit an officer; the officer returned fire, hitting and killing Christian. The officer’s bulletproof vest saved her life.
