Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says this year’s legislative session was a very productive one for his department. Andrew Greenstein reports.

The man killed in a gunfight with a Shreveport police officer early Sunday morning was from Baton Rouge. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office has identified the man fatally shot be Shreveport police as 27-year-old Timothy Christian. State Police is investigating the shooting.

 

Blood services provider Vitalant (vy-TALENT) is experiencing a critical shortage of type “O” blood that it has not seen in two years. Barley Juarez with Vitalant Blood Banking says they usually experience blood shortages this time of year.

There are several blood drives taking place through the month of July in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Morgan City areas.
