Authorities say 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen from California exchanged gunfire with law enforcement as he tried to rush past security checkpoint. He was allegedly armed with multiple guns and knives.

A bill heading to the House floor seeks to give the governor and statewide elected officials a significant pay raise. Harahan Representative John Illg is proposing that the governor’s salary be 35 percent of the average base pay for Louisiana’s university system presidents, and for other statewide elected officials, it would be 30 percent…

Four men have been charged in the 1982 rape and murder of Roxanne Sharp. Her body was discovered in a wooded area near the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds in Covington.
