Baton Rouge Congressman, Garret Graves says the focus should be selecting a Speaker so the House can conduct business.

A state trooper in Monroe has been placed on administrative leave after an of-duty D-W-I arrest early yesterday morning. Officials say 33 year old David Hamm of Rayville voluntarily submitted to a breath test after he crashed his vehicle. Hamm was booked into the Madison Parish Detention Center.

A Frustrating loss for the Saints yesterday as they wasted several chances and lost to the upstart Houston Texans 20-13. Saints Quarterback Derek Carr threw for 353 yards and a touchdown. He was also intercepted once and is upset New Orleans could not get the job done in Houston…

The Saints have just a few days off as they’re set to play again on Thursday…when they’ll host Jacksonville in the dome.

He says Citizens policyholders are only eligible for the grants that will be awarded today, the homeowners with private insurance will be eligible for the next round of grants that will be handed out…

Besides being a Citizens policyholder, Donelon says there are a couple of other qualifications needed in order to be eligible for the grants that will be distributed today…

Democrat Shawn Wilson was expected to be in a runoff with Landry but came in second with 26-percent of the vote against fourteen other candidates. Wilson said he congratulated Landry and asked him to keep his word that he would continue Medicaid expansion for more than half a million residents in the state and give teachers the pay raise they deserve.

Landry, who had the support of the state GOP for the past year, despite the fact that three other formidable Republicans remained in the race, says the journey to reform the state has only just begun.

New Orleans outgained Houston 430-297, but the Black and Gold were 0 for 3 in the red zone. Coach Dennis Allen says red zone offense continues to be a problem, there were also a couple of missed field goals and a poor first half by the defense…

LSU put it all together on Saturday night as the Fighting Tigers trounced the Auburn Tigers 48-18 in Death Valley. Another big night for Jayden Daniels as he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 93 yards. LSU scored on eight of its ten possessions and Daniels was asked after the game if he gets mad when they don’t score…

LSU allowed 293 yards of offense, as the Tigers improved to 5-2 and 4-and-1 in the SEC. Coach Brian Kelly liked how the defense was doing the little things, especially when it came to defending the pass…

Louisiana congressman and House majority Leader Steve Scalise didn’t have enough votes to become the next US house speaker, so he’s taken himself out the running. As for what’s next, Scalise says the House must find a way to come together for this country.

By the end of today’s primary election political analysts expect a run-off in the governor’s race between Republican Jeff Landry and Democrat Shawn Wilson. ULM Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says none of the other main candidates, including Stephen Waguespack, have won over enough voters.

Other statewide offices on the ballot include secretary of state, attorney general, & treasurer. Plus, there are some legislative seats up for grabs, including some hotly contested races. Polls are open now…and close tonight at 8.

The only female on Louisiana’s death row has been denied a capital clemency hearing by the state pardon board. Antoinette Frank was a New Orleans police officer when she killed fellow officer Ronald Williams, and two restaurant workers during a late night robbery in 1995. Officer Williams’s brother-in-law pleaded with the Louisiana Pardon Board not to grant clemency, saying his family has suffered enough.

A Friday night crash has left a man dead and a 9 year old girl injured after a car crashed into her bedroom. It happened last night just before 11. West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s officials say 43 year old Dedrick Manchester of New Roads was killed when he veered off the road, hit a gas main and crashed into the girl’s home. Officials say they the girl suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
