We’ve seen a lot of rain this week, but 99 percent of Louisiana still remains under severe drought.  Since August 1st State Climatologist Barry Keim says Louisiana has received 6-point-four inches of rain, but 15-point-seven inches would be considered normal for that time period.

But Keim says there’s some hope for the state. We’ll see a warm front followed by a cold front that will produce widespread rain once again.

During Thanksgiving weekend last year, there were 10 fatalities and more than 100 accidents with serious injuries.  It’s why the state’s “Click it or Ticket” campaign, underway now, is so important as 15-percent of people in Louisiana go unbuckled. Spokesperson Greg Fischer

It’s election day.  And three statewide races will be decided in the run-off.  After tonight, Louisianans will know who will be their next Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer. After a voter turnout of only 36 percent in the October primary, political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it could be even lower for the runoff. He says Republicans are favored to win all three.

Three statewide races, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer will be decided in the runoffs Saturday. Brooke Thorington has more on the predictions.

Governor-Elect Jeff Landry is concerned whether the state can afford the potential cost of Louisiana’s new policy that allows state workers who welcome a new child to receive six weeks of paid leave that’s set to begin January 1st. He has requested the financial details for this new policy.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission says Louisiana drivers need to be aware that the Click It or Ticket campaign begins tomorrow (Saturday) and goes through the Thanksgiving weekend. Spokesperson Greg Fischer….

The state’s passenger safety law requires everyone in a vehicle whether they’re driving or in the back seat to be properly restrained. The campaign runs through next Saturday.

The latest drought monitor indicates nearly 100 percent of the Bayou State is still in drought despite recent rainfall. State Climatologist Barry Keim says a warm front will move in on Monday – followed by a cold front that will produce up to two inches of rain across the state.

For example, the mayor’s race in Lafayette. Incumbent Josh Guillory is in a heated race with the daughter of former Governor Kathleen Blanco, Monique Blanco Boulet…

In spite of this week’s rain, we’re still in a drought. the Cincinnati Bengal will be without former LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow for the rest of the season. Burrow was visibly shaken by his inability to grip the football after a second quarter injury sidelined him in Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Burrow was ruled out for the game due to what was believed to be a wrist sprain. It is now known Burrow suffered a torn ligament.

Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Click it or ticket campaign runs November 18 through the Thanksgiving weekend. An LHSC report found at least 55 percent of adults killed in a vehicle crash in the Bayou State last year were not properly wearing their seat belts. Spokesperson Greg Fischer says a first offense for not wearing a seatbelt is $50 and $75 for repeat offenders. He says their latest observational survey found fewer than 15-percent of people in Louisiana go unbuckled…

The Cincinnati Bengals will be without Former LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow for the rest of the season. Burrow was visibly shaken by his inability to grip the football after a second quarter injury sidelined him in Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. A disappointed Burrow jogged to the locker room and though he returned to the sidelines for the second half, he was ruled out due to what was believed to be a sprained wrist. It is now known Burrow suffered a torn ligament and will miss the rest of the season.

Louisiana Highway Safety Commission spokesperson Greg Fischer says state law requires everyone in the vehicle, even those in the back seat, to be properly restrained. He says a ticket is better than a tragedy.

Nitazines, a group of synthetic opioids, are being linked to a growing number of overdose deaths. St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Charles Preston says they are 100 times more potent than fentanyl and it’s hard to know just how many overdoses they are responsible for…

He says it could take multiple doses of Narcan to be revived.

State police have arrested a 39-year-old Ruston pharmacist Joshua Miller for insurance fraud. The LSP fraud unit says Miller fraudulently billed for prescriptions from 2017 to 2022.  He faces 229 counts of prohibited activities and sanctions.

Saturday also marks the start of the click it or ticket campaign as the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission provides local law enforcement agencies with grant dollars so more officers can check to see if motorists are buckled up. New Orleans po boy shop owner Mike Serio will mark his 500th consecutive LSU football game tomorrow night when the Tigers host Georgia State. Serio says his favorite trip in the SEC is Kentucky and LSU’s game at Washington was cool in 2009, but his favorite trip was to Green Bay in 2016…
