The statewide burn ban has been lifted. It was issued on August seventh as a result of extremely dry conditions that helped produce multiple wildfires, some still burning today. But recent rainfall has given officials confidence that residents can return to burning vegetation and ordinary yard waste like leaves, tree branches and grass clippings.

Thanksgiving is the ultimate food holiday, but for thousands of Louisiana residents they are unable to get a good meal. Director of Feeding Louisiana Pat Van Burkleo says demand is up and boxes of food are down at food banks…

Many families will hit the grocery store today to buy items for the Thanksgiving feast, unfortunately there are thousands of families unable to have a nice meal. Director of Feeding Louisiana Pat Van Burkleo says there’s a growing need for donations to food banks…

More than 683 thousand people in Louisiana live with food insecurity.

Dominique McKane is counting her blessings this Thanksgiving. She was one of four people stabbed last week on the Louisiana Tech campus. Mckane told a Monroe TV station she never thought something like that could happen to her. Mckane is back home after suffering seven stab wounds, a C6 vertebrae fracture and a collapsed lung. A 23-year-old student has been charged in the incident.

The Holidays are a wonderful time for family and friends but can be a challenge for our four-legged friends.

The State Fire Marshal announced the statewide burn ban issued on August 7th has been lifted.  Louisianans are reminded the only legal items that can be burned in Louisiana are vegetation and ordinary yard waste items like leaves, tree branches, and grass clippings.

More than 46 million turkeys will be cooked this Thanksgiving according to USDA.  USDA Food Safety Expert Meredith Carothers says the best way to defrost your turkey is in the refrigerator.  When it comes to stuffing a turkey, Carothers suggests placing the turkey in the oven right away especially when using hot stuffing.

The Coast Guard and other authorities are still searching for the source of an oil pipeline leak in the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast. The Coast Guard initially reported 12 thousand gallons of oil was in the water but pipeline gauges show 1.1 million gallons of oil is missing and may have been discharged into the Gulf. The pipeline has been shut down but authorities are looking for the source.

The Rolling Stones are coming to Jazz Fest Thursday, May 2nd and Jazz Fest will be the second stop on their US tour promoting their new album, Hackney Diamonds.

After kicking off in Houston they’ll roll over to Crescent City. Times-Picayune and NOLA.com music writer Keith Spera says The Stones obviously want to play Jazz Fest, even after being rebooked several times before…

When it comes to defrosting your turkey, USDA Food Safety Expert Meredith Carothers recommends that you do so in the refrigerator, never leave it out to thaw on the kitchen counter.

LSU Women’s basketball forward Angel Reese did not play in Monday night’s game as the Tigers defeated Texas Southern 106-47. This was the second game the Bayou Barbie did not play in. Coach Kim Mulkey says this is a locker room issue and it’s not going to slow down her team

Reese averaged 23 points and 15 rebounds as she led the Lady Tigers to their first national championship last season. In four games this season, she’s averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds. LSU’s next game is Friday in the Cayman Islands against Niagara.
