Prior to Monday’s recount, Caddo Clerk of Court Mike Spence, said they found two instances of people inadvertently voting twice, once with a mail-in ballot, the other on Election Day.

A Southwest Airlines passenger allegedly jumped down from the wing of a plane after opening the emergency door Sunday evening. The 38 year old man was detained at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport after he ran across the tarmac and tried to drive away in a service truck, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The man was reportedly incoherent when stopped by authorities.  He was not arrested but transported to a hospital for evaluation of his mental status. His name has not be released and JPSO turned the investigation over to federal authorities.

In Caddo Parish Henry Whitehorn remains the winner of the sheriff’s race after a recount this morning. A one-vote victory on November 18th prompted opponent John Nickelson to call for a recount. 7,000 mail-in ballots were rescanned today and each candidate received three additional votes, so Whitehorn is still the winner by one vote.

LSU is promoting Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Over 900 voters will receive a ballot today to vote for the prestigious award. LSU Sports Information Department Michael Bonnette has unveiled thatkidjayden dot com, a website that informs voters of all of his accomplishments.

A federal trial challenging the state’s legislative district maps begins today in Baton Rouge. The plaintiffs allege the House and Senate district maps dilute black voters voting power. A federal appeals court has already told the Louisiana Legislature it must redraw the Congressional map.
