The family of 73-year-old Linda Frickey, who was killed last year in a violent carjacking in New Orleans, feels a guilty verdict for 18-year-old John Honore will finally help bring closure. Her sister-in-law, Kathy Richard hopes Honore will remember the horrific crime for the rest of his life.

The coaching carousel has begun in Louisiana as Grambling State fired their head coach Hue Jackson after just 2 seasons. Jackson had a combined 8 and 14 record at Grambling and never won a Bayou Classic. Northwestern State has hired Blaine McCorkle to be their new head coach. Before accepting the Northwestern job, McCorkle successfully turned around Division III program Bellhaven going 24 and 7 in the past three seasons.

The Saints are coming off of a disappointing nine point loss to the Falcons this Sunday. Frustrations are rising within the organization as Saints running back Alvin Kamara says this team is consistently inconsistent. New Orleans Head Coach Dennis Allen acknowledges that the team has struggled at times this season, but Allen has an optimistic perspective on the team’s performance this season.

In other football news, Jayden Daniels has been announced as a finalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. The promotion makes Daniels a finalist for four national awards and possibly five when the Heisman Trophy announces its finalists on Monday. Malik Nabers was also named a Biletnikoff finalist today along with his top competitor in Marvin Harrison Junior of Ohio State.

Tis the Season… for firing of Head Football coaches. The latest to fall is Grambling State’s Hue Jackson — fired after only two seasons. Grambling lost to Southern in the Bayou Classic and finished the 2023 season 5-6. During Jackson’s 2 years his record is 8 and 14. He served two years of his four-year one point six million dollar contract that paid him $400,000 a year. Grambling will reportedly pay the remaining portion of Jackson’s salary over the current fiscal year.

A unanimous guilty verdict for 18 year old John Honore. Surveillance video showed Honore pulling Linda Frickey out of her vehicle in mid-city New Orleans in March of 2022 and beating her. Then car speeding away in her car, dragging Frickey and severing her arm in the brutal death.  The defense argued that Honore did not intend to kill Frickey. Frickey’s sister in law Kathy Richard says the murder was intentional and Honore could have made different choices.

There’s growing concern among veterinarians over a mystery respiratory disease among dogs that’s difficult to treat. Brooke Thorington has more.

The Humane society of Louisiana receives no government funding says Director Jeff Dorson. He wants you to know that 30 of Louisiana’s 64 parishes have no animal control services. On this Giving Tuesday, He says they heavily rely on donations to care for pets.

Linda Frickey’s family feels justice was served after 18-year-old John Honore was found guilty of second-degree murder by a unanimous jury on Monday. Honore was the driver in the horrific New Orleans carjacking that killed Frickey. Her sister-in-law, Kathy Richard says the guilty verdict doesn’t bring Linda back but it brings closure.

Surveillance video showed Honore pulling Frickey out of her vehicle in mid-city New Orleans in March of 2022 and beating her. The car sped away dragging Frickey and severing her arm in the brutal death.  The defense argued that Honore did not intend to kill Frickey.

Richard says the murder was intentional and Honore could have made different choices.

Three other teens charged in the 2022 carjacking death pleaded guilty last week to attempted manslaughter in exchange for 20-year sentences.

Richard feels he should serve the maximum possible punishment of life in prison. She hopes the memory of that horrific day lives with him forever.

Sentencing is set for January. Honore could possibly be up for parole in 25 years.

Because it is a respiratory disease, Guichard says your dog has to come in contact with another dog to catch it.

Louisiana veterinarians are on notice to report any possible spread of the mystery disease in the Bayou State. Guichard says it’s best to keep your dog away from other dogs.
