Twenty-three-year-old Jacoby Johnson of Rayville now faces a second-degree murder charge.

18-year-old LA Tech Freshman Colin Campbell is being praised for helping two of the stabbing victims. He drove them in his truck to the hospital and police say his quick action most likely saved Cynthia Woodward’s life. The Minden High School graduate drove Woodard and Annie Richardson to the hospital.

The school is holding a blood drive tomorrow from 9 to 3 at the student center.

A Ruston Artist had died as a result of injuries at the hand of a 23 year old Louisiana Tech student Monday. Police say in what appears to be an random act of violence, Jacoby Johnson attacked 4 people as they were leaving the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center where prior to the attacks, Johnson brandished a knife at a student playing basketball. Among the injured is retired Third District Judge, Cynthia Woodard who was leaving an exercise class when she was attacked. She is reportedly being treated for her injuries and is in critical but stable condition. Many are shocked that the attacks took place at Lambright which serves all ages from seniors to students from elementary through college.

It’s been two years since President Joe Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy is a co-author of the legislation and he says 545 million dollars in funding has already been awarded to Louisiana for ports and waterways to repair infrastructure and strengthen supply chains. Another 368-million dollars has been awarded for infrastructure and coastal resiliency. Cassidy says Louisiana is better off now than it was two years ago because of the infrastructure law…

Southern University has parted ways with Head Football Coach Eric Dooley after only two seasons. Despite different perspectives, Athletics Director Roman Banks says it was clear a change in leadership of the program was necessary.

Aurelia Skipwith Giacometto (Jack-ah-metto) began her career at Monsanto and in addition to a biology degree from Howard, and a master’s in molecular genetics from Purdue, she has a law degree from the University of Kentucky.

Landry says her appointment will attract others to the state.

Assault charges have been dropped against Natchitoches Parish President John Richmond. Latorria Freeman claimed Richmond pushed her during a festival in May. Richmond only recalls a conversation with his accuser.

Governor-Elect Jeff Landry is having a press conference today to name his cabinet appointment. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat believes he will name former congressman, Dr. Ralph Abraham to head LDH.

Pinsonat says Abraham’s experience in Congress and his knowledge of federal healthcare programs makes Abraham a valuable asset to Landry.

Nearly 22 percent of small business owners say inflation is their biggest obstacle in operating their business according to a new survey by the National Federation of Independent Business. State Director Dawn McVea says the survey also shows small business owners are not growing their inventories as labor and energy costs are not falling.

A consumer Price Index Report released for October showed annual price inflation rose to three point two percent, which was down slightly from three point seven percent in September.

It’s unclear what will happen next now that a federal appeals court has ordered the Louisiana Legislature to redraw a new Congressional district map featuring two black districts by January 15th. The ACLU is a plaintiff and Attorney Sarah Brannon describes the map , they would like to see get approved.

In Washington, Louisiana representative and republican new Speaker of the house Mike Johnson got some big support from democrats yesterday on a measure to prevent a government shutdown. That after hard right conservatives said no to the plan. The Senate is next to take up the stop-gap measure ahead of Friday’s shutdown deadline.

The university posted a statement to their website earlier late yesterday saying the “community mourns the loss of Annie Richardson.” She and three others were attacked Monday while leaving the sports and wellness center on campus. The suspect Jacoby Johnson is now charged with second degree murder.

Talk continues regarding the new congressional map that Louisiana’s lawmakers have been ordered to produce by mid January, and the new legislature won’t be sworn in till a week earlier.
