Four people have been arrested in connection with a drive by shooting that killed 65-year-old Annette Trouvell of Lake Charles earlier this month. 18-year-old Jordan L Jones is facing 2nd degree murder charges, 25-year-old Tyler D Lewis, principal to 2nd degree murder. Two 17-year-olds were also arrested. One faces accessory after the fact to 2nd degree murder and the the other, unauthorized use of a vehicle after taking the family vehicle from which the shootings occurred. 36-year-old Chelsea R Hyatt was also charged with obstruction of justice because authorities says she knew her daughter was in the car and did not report it.

While spring season brings milder temperatures, Keim says  it’s also the peak season for tornadoes. And severe weather including lots of precipitation through the beginning of May.

Trooper Casey Wallace says the collaborative effort of multiple agencies recovered meth, cocaine, heroin, and different narcotics.

The goal of the operation was to detect, identify, and apprehend individuals involved in various criminal activities.

While local law enforcement agencies are constrained by their jurisdictions, Wallace points out that criminals aren’t restricted so by forming a task force of multiple agencies there’s strength in numbers.

While such operations prove to be productive with multiple arrests, Wallace says unfortunately they require lots of manpower which is a problem facing all law enforcement agencies.

Clayton says the pursuit started in Baton Rouge and Cauthron was attempting to pull over a 26-year-old driver who had taken his father’s vehicle.

The LSU men’s basketball team will host North Texas tonight in the first round of the N-I-T. The Tigers beat the Mean Green 66-62 at a tournament in South Carolina in November.

Cauthron was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. But Clayton says the vehicle was stolen from a family member and a high speed pursuit was not needed.

A bill to get rid of vehicle inspection stickers in Louisiana will be heard in House Transportation today. Author of the bill, Stonewall Representative Larry Bagley  says they are simply a money grab.

Bagley says no other states in the south require break tags or inspection stickers, except for Texas which is phasing there’s out. Bagley. Commercial and student transportation vehicles would still be required to have inspection stickers.

David Cauthron, a former Addis police officer, pled guilty Monday to two counts of manslaughter related to a deadly car crash on New Year’s Eve in 2022. Cauthron slammed his unit into a vehicle with killing two teens and severely injuring a U-L Lafayette during a high-speed chase. West Baton Rouge District Attorney Tony Clayton says Cauthron’s actions and comments before the accident were critical in the case.

The LSU Health New Orleans A-L-S clinic Co Director Dr. Stephen Kantrow says the clinic has been recognized as an A-L-S Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence for its commitment to providing quality care in ALS-related research. He says the collaborative effort simplify the patient health care experience.

Kantrow says the ALS team specializes in neuromuscular disorders and other conditions associated with ALS. He says patients visit the multidisciplinary clinic every three months.

A proposal to eliminate vehicle inspection stickers in Louisiana will be heard in House Transportation today. This will be Stonewall Representative Larry Bagley’s third attempt to eliminate break tags or vehicle inspection stickers in Louisiana. As for opposition, he says he’s gotten pushback from the owners of vehicle inspection sites and from state police.

Bagley says he also hasn’t received any opposition from Governor Jeff Landry’s administration over House Bill 344.

The U-S Marshals task force says it arrested a wanted sex offender living in a hut near the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area in the Atchafalaya Basin. Authorities say 51-year-old Brian Schaller’s home was made from tree limbs, tarps and paracord and he was eating small game and rodents. He was wanted for sexual and oral sexual battery in Tangipahoa Parish.

Former Addis police officer David Cauthron has pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter for driving at a high rate of speed and slamming his police cruiser into another vehicle, killing two teenagers from Brusly High School on New Year’s Eve 2022. West Baton Rouge District Attorney Tony Clayton says Cauthron was reckless as he pursued a vehicle stolen from a family member.

Cauthron was sentenced to 32 years in prison, 22 of the years are suspended.
