Political analyst Scott Hughes says a similar case occurred in the 1999 Red River Parish Sheriff’s race…

The Saints ended a three-game losing streak Sunday with a 28-6 win. Quarterback Derek Carr threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, but the first three quarters were tough to watch as the offense could barely move the ball against a bad Carolina Panthers team. There was an on-field argument between Carr and center Eric McCoy after a sack in the third quarter. Coach Dennis Allen says the screaming match was no big deal…

The win improves the Saints record to six and seven and there’s now a three way tie for first place in the NFC South after Tampa Bay went on the road and defeated Atlanta 29-25.

After a slow start, the seventh ranked LSU women’s basketball team defeated U-L 83-53 as Aneesah Morrow had 27 points and 10 boards.

Calvary Baptist rallied to beat St. Charles Catholic and Union Parish had an exciting one point win over St. James for the division three nonselect title.

A five-judge panel of the Second Circuit Court of Appeal will hear Henry Whitehorn’s appeal of a state judge’s ruling that there should another election for Caddo Parish Sheriff. Whitehorn won the November 18th election by one vote, but Retired state Supreme Court Justice Joseph Bleich ordered a new election after several questionable votes were uncovered. Political Analyst Scott Hughes expects a fairly quick ruling…

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals will hear Caddo Parish Sheriff candidate Henry Whitehorn’s case today. Whitehorn is hoping to overturn the ruling for a new election after opponent John Nickelson challenged Whitehorn’s one-vote victory. Political Analyst Scott Hughes…

Because it’s an election case and timely, Hughes expects the court will rule quickly. He says five judges will review briefings filed by both sides and question the attorneys.

The legality of eleven ballots is being questioned in the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s race. Of those votes, two people voted twice, at least five mail-in votes were invalid, and four were cast by unqualified voters.

As for similar cases, Hughes says ironically in neighboring Red River Parish a runoff election for sheriff in 1999 was challenged all the way to the Supreme Court which ruled in favor of another election.

The Bayou State received federal funding through the 10-billion American Rescue Plan Act. Service providers had to participate in the program for an applicant to be eligible.

Moses says payments went directly to mortgage companies. She says this will impact thousands of Louisianans who struggled to meet mortgage payments during the pandemic.

 Moses says the program offered a lifeline to Louisiana residents to help meet their mortgage payments and not lose their homes.

A cold front approaching the Bayou State from the northwest has the potential to bring some severe weather. State Climatologist Barry Keim says says we could have up to an inch and a half of rain, and the heavier rain is more likely in northeast Louisiana.  Still we all need to be weather aware.

The first 13 homes to have a fortified roof installed with Louisiana Fortified Roof Grants are complete. Homeowner Alicia Craige says the entire process was seamless and she’s pleased with the results.

There’s a potential for some severe weather Saturday in Louisiana. Brooke Thorington has more.

A 13 year old Madisonville girl was arrested Friday after telling a classmate she was going to “shoot up” her junior high school. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office became aware of the incident after the other student informed a teacher. The girl was issued a menacing summons and released on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

The first 13 homes to have a fortified roof installed through the Louisiana Fortified Roof Grant Program have been completed. Homeowner Alicia Craige is among them. In order to comply with insurance requirements, Craige says she needed to get her roof repaired immediately so she applied online.
