LSU has unveiled plans for a new $107 million Construction & Advanced Manufacturing Building.  Dean of the College of Engineering Vicki Colvin says the project, supported by a $15 million donation from Art Favre, a 1972 LSU grad and founder of Performance Contractors, will enhance the university’s top-tier construction management program.

Following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Louisiana’s insurance outlook remains stable. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says the storms’ impact falls below the catastrophic level seen in hurricanes like Ivan.

Temple emphasized that while Louisiana has largely escaped significant damage this season, the global nature of reinsurance must be considered.

Investigators in St. Tammany Parish now have a name to go with a body recovered from Lake Pontchartrain 38 years ago. Using genealogy and DNA testing, they have identified the body as that of Pamela Lee Hupp. Lieutenant Suzanne (soo-ZAWN) Carboni says the process was long and hard, but it was worth it.

A die-hard Taylor Swift fan from Metairie books practically an entire downtown New Orleans hotel for the Taylor Swift concerts, but not to make an easy profit. Rebecca Fox booked 191 rooms at the Holiday Inn New Orleans-Downtown Superdome hotel for about 500 dollars each for four nights this week. She says since she booked the rooms immediately after the Superdome shows were announced, she got a relative bargain

Fox says she re-sold all the rooms that she booked at exactly the price she paid, so she’s not making any profit.

The biggest offseason addition for the Pelicans was Dejounte Murray, who was an off ball guard in Atlanta, but he’ll play point guard in New Orleans. New Orleans does not have a true center after losing Jonas Valanciunas in free agency.

Rumors about Alvin Kamara possibly getting traded have been put to rest as New Orleans and Kamara have agreed to a two-year contract extension that’s worth a reported 24.5 million dollars. Kamara’s contract keeps him in New Orleans through 2026. The Saints will be in Los Angeles this Sunday to take on the Chargers.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Lieutenant Suzanne (soo-ZAWN) Carboni says now that investigators have a name to go with the body, the task now is to find her killer, assuming that person is still alive. 

The Monroe Police Department is being featured on the TV documentary series On Patrol: Live for the next eight weeks. Monroe Police Chief Victor Zordan says the show offers the opportunity for officers to demonstrate professionalism, courage, and dedication.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara has received a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season. The new deal includes 22-million dollars in guaranteed money and it reportedly saves New Orleans 18-million dollars in salary cap space next year. Kamara wants to retire as a Saint and he’s less than 250 yards away from becoming the team’s all-time leading rusher.

An Amani Givens one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put Louisiana Tech on top and the Bulldogs held on to beat Texas  El Paso 14 to 10. Tech’s defense held the Miners to 85 yards passing as Jakari Foster and Koble Fields each had 11 tackles.  The Bulldogs only rushed for seven yards, but they are now 2-and-2 in Conference USA action.

A new season kicks off tonight for the Pelicans as New Orleans hosts the Chicago Bulls. Zion Williamson is questionable with an illness, Dejounte Murray is also questionable for personal reasons and Jose Alvarado is also questionable with a right knee.

The Bulls are a mediocre team in the Eastern Conference and Pels Coach Willie Green gives us a scouting report…

Trial began yesterday for the man accused in a mass shooting in downtown Shreveport in March of last year.    Jurors heard opening statements in the case of Devin Owen Porter Jr., who’s charged with second-degree murder and six counts of attempted murder after police say he fired multiple shots near Texas Street.  32 year old Jacorvin Taylor was killed, six other people were injured.
