Louisiana State Police and the Thibodaux Police Department have arrested 19-year-old Tylaiah Adams of Thibodaux for aggravated assault with a firearm in a parking lot at Thibodaux High School after school hours. Officials say two male students were involved in an altercation and Adams, who is not a student at Thibodaux High, allegedly got out of a car and brandished a gun.

 
East Baton Rouge authorities have ruled the death of an infant left in a hot car all day last month an accident. The parent told deputies they forgot to drop their six month old off at daycare in the morning and realized the terrible mistake when they went to the day care facility after work. Kids and Car Safety Director Amber Rollins recommends creating a visual reminder for when your child is in the car with you, which can break a parent out of autopilot. She suggests keeping a large stuffed animal in the back seat…

Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton announced 12th-overall pick Bo Nix as the starting quarterback week 1. The Saints will face the Broncos week 7 on Thursday Night Football as Payton makes his first return to the Superdome not as the Saints Head Coach.

Landry points to the Louisiana Gator Program, which will replace the current voucher program. He says Louisiana Gator will expand over time, allowing more students of all income levels to use taxpayer dollars to attend the school of their choice…

Ground has been broken on the long awaited Jimmie Davis Bridge Replacement project in south Bossier City and Shreveport. The new bridge will have two more lanes, a median, and three spaces for U-turns; and the old bridge will be converted into a walking bridge. The project will also see LA-511 widened near the bridge to accommodate the extra lanes. DOTD Secretary Joe Donahue says this project is more than just a bridge…

The governor says the best example of that is the Louisiana Gator Program, which will replace the state’s current voucher program. Grambling State is making history tomorrow with opening the first digital library building in Louisiana. The new library is a central academic information hub that aims to facilitate access to resources and connect users to community information. The 50 thousand square foot facility is designed as a space to connect, create, and collaborate. With over 150 computer stations, 17 thousand square feet of study space, and multipurpose spaces for events, meetings, and seminars.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office have ruled the death of a six-month-old left in a car all day last month an accident. Sean Richardson has more.

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s has arrested a Pitkin woman for murder after she allegedly killed her husband. Deputies say 53-year-old Melissa Ann Sweat called authorities and they responded to a home in Pitkin and found 61-year-old Rodney Sweat dead. Melissa Ann Sweat was taken into custody. No details on what led to the shooting.

About eight-thousand fans attended last night’s Saints practice at Yulman Stadium. The highlight was Irishman Charlie Smyth making a 65-yard field goal. Coach Dennis Allen says it was nice to see, but it doesn’t mean he has a leg up on Blake Grupe, who is trying to keep his place kicking duties…

The Saints also appear to be getting healthier as running back Alvin Kamara, tight end Juwan Johnson, left tackle Taliese Fuaga and linebacker Pete Werner practiced on a limited basis. They’ve been out due to various injuries.

The Pelicans have signed small forward Javonte Green. Green played in nine games for the Chicago Bulls last season and averaged 12 points and seven rebounds. Green is known for his ability to dunk the basketball.

The longtime voice of Tiger Stadium, Dan Borne, is taking a leave of absence because of medical issues. Borne is hopeful he will return to his public address announcing duties at Tiger Stadium this season, but for now, the voice of Alex Box Stadium, Bill Franques, will fill in for Borne.

USC football coach Lincoln Riley has named Miller Moss as the Trojans starting quarterback. LSU and USC will meet in Las Vegas on September 1st. Moss is replacing Heisman Winning Trophy quarterback Caleb Williams. Moss performed well in the Holiday Bowl last year .

Chandler Fields and Ben Woolridge have been battling to be the Cajuns starting quarterback. Coach MIchael Desormeaux says the training camp battle is over, but the public will have to wait to see who will start against Grambling…

Bienville Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people in Jamestown and removed 33 dogs from poor living in poor conditions. 32-year-old Tanya Michelle Griffith and 29-year-old Allen Tyler Meylian face 32 counts of cruelty to Animals. Humane Society of Louisiana Director, Jeff Dorson says since Bienville Parish has no Animal Control Department, animal rescue is up to the Sheriff’s office…

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and Ascension Parish signed a memorandum of understanding to deal with a red dust problem around a former aluminum plant. Mel Bridges has more.

LDH is continuing a “do not use” water advisory for areas served by the Walnut Bayou Water System in Madison Parish after drinking water was exposed to the chemical paraquat last week. LDH continues to work closely with local officials throughout the sampling and testing process. Water can be picked up at the Walnut Bayou Water Association Office in Tallulah.
