There are freeze warnings out for much of Louisiana starting tonight into tomorrow morning and many areas along I-10 in the Acadiana region are under a HARD freeze warning for that time. Temps could fall into the mid 20-s to low 30s overnight and last up to 8 hours according to the national weather service. Winter weather precautions should be taken.

Former Alaska Governor and tea party favorite Sarah Palin will be in Monroe this weekend to stump for US-Senate Candidate Bill Cassidy. The National Weather Service says there is a freeze warning in effect from 11pm this evening to 9am tomorrow morning for most of the state — and a HARD freeze warning has been issued for many parishes along I-10 in Acadiana and Calcasieu from midnight to 8am Friday. Meteorologists report freezing temperatures could last between 3 and 8 hours and plants should be protected and animals brought indoors.

Searchers are facing rough conditions on Lake Pontchartrain this morning as they continue to look for two people authorities say were aboard a small plane that went down last night. Coast Guard officials say crews found some debris but cannot confirm that debris belongs to the plane. Authorities say the plane was last spotted on radar about one mile northeast of Lakefront Airport. The flight was reportedly a student instructor flight.

“MAB-CHMINACA”, a new component in synthetic marijuana is believed to be responsible for sending more teenagers to the hospital in Louisiana. This new compound has been banned by the state and Louisiana Poison Control Executive Director Mark Ryan says it’s caused some users to be sent to the intensive care unit so it deserved quick action to regulate. He says in some cases these people have had their heart rate drop dramatically…

Both candidates in the US Senate runoff are working to show voters they can get things done in Washington. Senator Mary Landrieu called for a vote on the Keystone XL Pipeline in the current lame-duck session and soon after Republican House leaders announced lawmakers would vote today on a similar bill sponsored by Bill Cassidy. ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says while these moves probably don’t mean much to voters, they certainly don’t hurt…
