DHH reports that two more people are being monitored for symptoms after returning from an Ebola infected area. That brings total number of people being monitored in the state to four.

Nonfarm jobs increased in seven of Louisiana’s eight metro areas over the year ending September 30th. Baton Rouge lead the way with 11,500 new jobs followed by New Orleans, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport/Bossier City, Houma, and Monroe.

A deputy with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office has been arrested for allegedly using his badge to have sex with prostitutes. Baton Rouge Police Department Corporal L Jean McKneely says Deputy Florian Deutsch would inform the prostitutes he was a police officer and if they had sex with him, he would not arrest them. The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office fired Deutsch when notified about the arrest. McKneely says Deutsch was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison…

Quarterback Pete Thomas says winning the conference and playing in a bowl game are two goals that are still within reach…

The Department of Health and Hospitals now reports that two more people from Marrero are being watched for symptoms of Ebola after they returned from an infected area in West Africa. That brings the total number of people being monitored in the state to four. State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry says there are no cases of Ebola in Louisiana and he feels comfortable that medical personnel are prepared if a case should develop in the state…

All four being monitored are considered “low risk” for contracting Ebola.

An officer involved shooting in Iberville Parish has left a 36-year-old man dead. The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened in a rural area near Bayou Pigeon last night. As deputies were attempting to locate Shaun Wilson Ramo, who had been accused of raping a woman in the area, he aimed his rifle at the deputies, who then fired on the subject. Ramo was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police are investigating.

Five people have been arrested in Baton Rouge during a big drug bust Wednesday night involving high grade marijuana and other drugs. BRPD reported the BRAVE team made the bust at a motel, where investigators said they seized 12.4 pounds of “purple” marijuana worth thousands of dollars per pound.

In Lafayette, a man is dead after veering of the road on his motorcycle, striking a mailbox, and being thrown from his bike. Twenty-year-old Justin Rice of Lafayette died from his injuries, and that crash is still under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department.

Those involved in high school athletics are still buzzing about the sudden departure of L-H-S-A-A executive director Kenny Henderson. His last day on the job is Friday. The search for Henderson’s replacement has already started. Past-president of the LHSAA, Todd Guice, will chair a committee that will seek out qualified candidates….

The man is considered to be low risk for Ebola since he had no contact with any Ebola patients while abroad. Guidry says the CDC leaves it up to state health officials and the individual whether or not the individual will remain confined to their home during the 21-day Ebola monitoring period…

The Hammond Police Department says they are searching for two people accused of trying to sell a young girl at a gas station this morning. They say a 911 call came in with a woman saying she was at the Race Track and a man and woman were going around asking people if they wanted to buy the girl who appeared to be about 10 years old. Cops are looking for a dark blue dodge van with license plate BSXR89.

Kenny Henderson is out as executive director of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. Henderson has led the LHSAA, which governs high school athletics, since 2007. His contract was set to expire next summer, but past-president of the LHSAA, Todd Guice, says both sides felt now was the time for a change.
