Deputies in Ascension Parish say a Prairieville man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly ramming his estranged wife’s car over and over while she was inside with another man. They say the incident caused a three-vehicle accident which injured 6 people. 33-year-old Gerald Asay faces many charges including two counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of negligent injuring.

Authorities say Neveah Pierson of Gray was killed when the vehicle she was traveling in crossed the center line and struck another car yesterday afternoon. The driver, 31-year-old Sommer Pierson, Naveah’s mother, and another passenger are hospitalized with moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also received moderate injuries. The investigation is ongoing, although authorities do not suspect impairment to be a factor.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that an inmate being held at the parish jail committed suicide over the weekend. Authorities say a 16-year-old male inmate was found hanged in his cell just before midnight Saturday night. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff.
