A new casino resort in Bossier City set to open early next year has the help wanted sign out.  Live! Casino and Hotel Louisiana is looking to fill more than 750 positions. Human Resources Director Wesley Garcia says the jobs run the gamut.

The university is so far tight-lipped about it, but there are reports that LSU will have a live tiger on the field for tomorrow night’s game against Alabama. Todd Horne from Tiger Rag magazine says the governor has been pushing for this for months.

The tiger is coming in from Florida and is owned by a man named Mitchel Kalmanson, who according to PETA has been cited by the Department of Agriculture more than three-dozen times for various violations since 2000. Kalmanson had no comment when we reached out to him, and multiple attempts to reach LSU have been unsuccessful.

Still no final call on which party will control the House starting in January. New Orleans Congressman Troy Carter, who easily won re-election, says it’s time to turn the page.

Several Black people across the country, including here in Louisiana, have been receiving hate-filled spam text messages referencing slavery. In a statement, State Attorney General Liz Murrill expressed her disgust over the text messages and said she has directed the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation to investigate where the texts are coming from. The FBI is also investigating.

A live tiger will reportedly be on the field before tomorrow night’s LSU-Alabama game. That’s according to a report from the Louisiana Illuminator and Louisiana-sports-dot-net. It will reportedly not be Mike Seven, who lives across the street. The LSU Vet school will not allow it, so reportedly a one-and-a-half-year-old Tiger from Florida will be the one inside a mobile cage during pregame warmups.

We know Nick Saban will not be on the Alabama sideline for Saturday night’s game. Coach Brian Kelly was asked how the Crimson Tide are different with Saban no longer roaming the sidelines and Kalen DeBoer at the helm

On Tuesday, voters overwhelming approved a constitutional amendment that will direct offshore wind revenue to help fund coastal restoration. Amendment one on the November fifth ballot received 73-percent of the vote. On the first full day of the special session on tax reform, the House Ways and Means Committee approved proposals to cut state income taxes and repeal the corporate franchise tax on businesses. Legislators have until November 25th to complete their work, but Chalmette Representative Michael Bayham says they don’t want to rush through this…

The Ways and Means committee will vote today on the legislative instrument that would put the tax changes before voters in March.

The House Ways and Means Committee has approved bills to create a flat three-percent personal income tax and to eliminate the corporate franchise tax on businesses. Today, the same committee will consider legislation that will need voter approval in March that makes changes to the state constitution for Landry’s tax plan to be enacted.

Voters overwhelmingly approved of a constitutional amendment to direct revenues from alternate offshore energy sources to coastal restoration. Simone Maloz (mih-LAWZ), the campaign director for Restore the Mississippi River Delta, says it expands the offshore revenue sources currently used for coastal restoration beyond the traditional oil and gas.

The amendment was approved by an almost three to one spread.

It will not be Mike the Seven, who lives in a habitat across the street from Tiger Stadium. WBRZ-TV reports that a Bengal Tiger named Omar Bradley from Florida has been brought in for the game. Governor Jeff Landry has said he thinks LSU should have a live tiger mascot on the field during the pregame.

We still do no know who will have control of the U-S House.  Democratic Congressman Troy Carter of New Orleans says whether his party is in the majority or the minority does not alter the job.

A major portion of Governor Jeff Landry’s tax plan has received support from the House Ways and Means Committee. A bill to repeal the corporate franchise tax on businesses and a measure to reduce state income taxes for all workers were easily approved. A bill that would lead to new sales taxes has yet to be considered.

Debate is underway at the State Capitol on Governor Jeff Landry’s tax plan that seeks to lower income taxes for all workers but sales taxes would be added to 41 activities currently not taxed. Landry went before the House Ways and Means Committee today, urging them to pass his plan…

State Representative Matthew Williard, a Democrat from New Orleans, is concerned Landry’s tax plan will result in less available tax dollars for the state to spend. He’s concerned about future tax cuts…

The House Ways and Means Committee approved the bill to reduce the personal income taxes on a 15 to 3 vote. The measure could go before House Appropriations, before a vote on the House floor.

It looks like Louisiana’s record of never having a hurricane making landfall in the state in the month of November will remain intact, at least for the time being. Earlier this week, the National Hurricane Center had Hurricane Rafael turning north in the Gulf of Mexico and straight towards Louisiana, albeit weakening to below hurricane strength. But LSU Public Health Climatologist Barry Keim says the forecast track has done a complete 180, now headed towards the Bay of Campeche in Mexico.

And Keim says there’s a chance that the storm could dissipate altogether before reaching Mexico.

We’re getting new information on a tiger en route to Baton Rouge to reportedly take the field for Saturday’s LSU game against Alabama. The tiger is reportedly named Omar Bradley, and he’s a one-and-a-half-year-old bengal tiger owned by a man near Orlando. Governor Landry has been pushing LSU to revive its tradition of having a live tiger on the field that was halted in 2015. So far, the university has not confirmed whether the tiger will indeed take the field.
