State Police say charges are pending against the driver of the truck who struck and killed two teenage girls, who were walking to school in Breaux Bridge Thursday morning. The driver has been identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Abraham of Breaux Bridge and the mayor of the town, Jack Delhomme, is upset this would happen in his city…

A third victim, a 13-year-old girl, has serious injuries and is in a Baton Rouge hospital. The driver of the truck is also hospitalized in Lafayette. State Police say Abraham may have been impaired. Delhomme says it’s a tragic situation

Ross says the cooler air mass coming with the cold front could produce the first frost of the season in some portions of the state. Ross says these cooler temperatures are coming in a little ahead of schedule…

A new poll on the US Senate race conducted by the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center shows 21-percent of the voters are undecided heading into the November fourth election. UNO political science professor Ed Chervenak says it’s a sign voters are not happy with the two main candidates, Senator Mary Landrieu and Republican challenger Bill Cassidy…

Chervenak says the telephone poll of nearly six-hundred registered voters in Louisiana shows Landrieu winning the November primary over Cassidy and Rob Maness, but losing to Cassidy in the December runoff

Louisiana State Police will phase out additional patrols in the French Quarter following the Halloween weekend. The one hundred additional troopers have been assisting with patrols following a mass shooting on Bourbon Street in June. Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson says the phase out is really a result of economics…

Edmonson says his budget hasn’t changed in the four months since the additional patrols began and it’s time to redeploy those troopers. Edmonson says those additional patrols have been busy in the Quarter…

State Police will continue assist in the French Quarter during holidays and major events. Edmonson says, on a daily basis, 44 troopers are working in New Orleans and this is not a sign that State Police is abandoning the Big Easy…

It’s homecoming weekend on the campus of U-L Lafayette and Louisiana Tech. The Ragin Cajuns, who are undefeated in the Sun Belt, will face conference rival South Alabama, who has just one loss in league play. Coach Mark Hudspeth says there’s a lot of great events around campus celebrating homecoming, but his players have to worry about the game

We have a tragic story to report out of St. Martin Parish today. Two teenage girls who were walking to school this morning were struck and killed by a pick-up truck. A third girl was also hit and she’s in serious condition at a Baton Rouge hospital. Trooper Jared Sandifer says the investigation is ongoing and impairment is supected on the driver’s part….

The driver has been identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Abraham of Breaux Bridge and charges are pending against him. He’s in a Lafayette hospital in critical condition.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s office announces they’ve arrested a 29-year-old Slidell man on 25 counts of distributing child pornography. The A-G’s office says if Jeremy Petry is convicted as charged, he faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of child pornography.

Police in Natchitoches are investigating a shooting involving Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and a man with whom they were attempting to serve protective papers. After the exchange of gunfire, 26 year-old Robert Vercher was shot then pronounced dead at a local hospital. The deputies have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the investigation.

A win for the Saints tonight against Carolina and they move into first place in the NFC South. The Panthers are winless in their last three games, but they should get a boost with the return of running back DeAngelo Williams, who has missed the last six games because of injuries. Saints defensive end Cam Jordan on the challenges Williams brings to their defense…

Three players have been ruled out for the Saints tonight. Running back Pierre Thomas, linebacker David Hawthorne and fullback Austin Johnson. This is the second straight game Thomas will miss because of a shoulder injury, while Hawthorne hurt his hand in the Green Bay win.

Former LSU Tiger Jarvis Landry has been named the A-F-C Special Teams Player of the Month. Landry leads the NFL with a 31-yard kickoff return average.

Tonight in the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia Southern hosts Troy. Georgia Southern and the Ragin Cajuns are both undefeated in league play and tied for first in the Sun Belt. U-L Lafayette hosts South Alabama this Saturday. The Jaguars are 4-and-1 in the Sun Belt this year and last season they beat the Cajuns 30 to 8.

Louisiana Tech will also look to stay undefeated in league action this Saturday as they host Western Kentucky. The Bulldogs are 4-and-0 in Conference USA, while the Hilltoppers are 1-and-3.

Over in the Southland Conference…Northwestern State hosts McNeese State. The Cowboys are 3-and-1 in league play and with a win they move into a first place tie with Southeastern Louisiana, who is off this weekend. Nicholls State will host Incarnate Word.

In the SWAC, after taking last weekend off, Grambling State will visit Texas Southern. Both teams are 5-and-3 on the season. Southern will host Alabama State. The Jaguars are 4-and-1 in the SWAC, a game behind Grambling in the west division standings.

A 26 year-old Natchitoches man was shot and killed yesterday in a shooting involving Nachitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies who were trying to serve a protective order. Authorities say Robert Vercher and deputies exchanged gunfire and Vercher was hit several times. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The report used DNA testing to examine 143 shrimp products and found that 30-percent were falsely labeled in 111 grocery stores and restaurants. Louisiana Shrimp Association President Clint Guidry says that 90% of the shrimp eaten in the US is imported…

Another cold front is on its way. High temps on Saturday will be in the upper 50s and 60s. Lows close to the freezing mark for the northern half of the state on Sunday morning.

Running back Pierre Thomas, linebacker David Hawthorne and fullback Austin Johnson will not play tonight because of injuries. The Panthers starting left tackle, Byron Bell, is out because of a knee injury. But running back DeAngelo Williams returns after missing the last six games because of injuries.

LSU and Alabama are both off this Saturday, which gives them extra time to get healthy for their match-up in Death Valley on November eighth. The Crimson Tide’s leading rusher TJ Yeldon has not practiced this week and has been seen wearing a walking boot. But Bama’s Nick Saban anticipates Yeldon will return to practice on Monday.

Jimmy Anderson of Lake Charles has been named the interim executive director of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. Anderson will fill the role once served by Kenny Henderson, until a person can take over the position on a full-time basis. Anderson is a past president of the LHSAA and currently serves as a rules compliance officer in Lake Charles.

In high school football action today…John Curtis will face De La Salle. Both teams have six wins on the season. It will be the 600th game for legendary Patriots head coach J-T Curtis.

In college basketball…Stephen F Austin has been picked to win the Southland Conference based on a poll of the league’s coaches. Northwestern State received a first-place vote and is expected to finish second. McNeese State is projected to finish in fifth place. Tulane is expected to finish in last place in the American Athletic Conference.

In the NBA,,,the Pelicans are off today. They don’t play again until Saturday, when they host the Dallas Mavericks.
