The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Ponchatoula woman after she allegedly shot her boyfriend with an assault rifle. They say 32-year-old Winter Flowers picked up the gun after an argument with 38-year-old Monroe Meyers. When Meyers rushed her, she became frightened and pulled the trigger shooting Meyers in the stomach. Meyers is in critical condition. Flowers is charged with second degree aggravated battery.

14 additional strip clubs across the state were cited for drug activity, prostitution, and lewd acts as part of the state Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control’s “Operation Trick or Treat” investigation. Fake money used in movies is making its way across multiple parishes in southeast Louisiana according to Morgan City Police. Sgt. Rick Hartley says the bills they’ve confiscated are obviously fake marked with the phrase “Motion Picture Use Only.” But he says often times people will go into a dimly lit business in an effort to try to break the counterfeit bill for real money…

The price of gas continues to fall in Louisiana as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday. The average price for a gallon of regular is $1.86, 7 cents lower than a week ago.

Attorneys for Margaret Sanchez, one of the two people accused in the 2012 death of a Bourbon Street stripper, is asking for her trial to be moved. They claim media coverage on the murder and dismemberment of 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart would corrupt jury selection for her trial, scheduled to begin December 7th. Sanchez is charged with second degree murder in connection to Lockhart’s death. In June, Sanchez’s accomplice, Terry Speaks, was found guilty of second degree murder.

Baton Rouge Police say a teenager has been arrested in connection with a Tuesday night shooting that sent a 19-year-old woman to the hospital. They believe the 16-year-old boy was sitting in the back seat of a car when he accidentally fired a handgun hitting the victim who was sitting in the front passenger seat. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. The boy is charged with negligent injuring and juvenile in possession of a firearm.

The search for a man wanted in a fatal Sunday shooting in Winnsboro has ended after the suspect was found dead. When police responded to a report of shots fired at a Monroe motel Tuesday, they discovered 28-year-old Mario Doyle dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Doyle was wanted for a shooting that killed 30-year-old Calvin Toles and injured two others, including a 10-year-old child. At last report, the child was listed in stable, but critical condition.

The arrival of the Holiday Season also signals the arrival of flu season. Dr. Frank Welch with the Department of Health and Hospitals says luckily this flu season is off to a slow start. He says as well as getting your flu vaccine, living a healthier lifestyle during flu season will help ward off the virus…

There is some concern international tourism into Louisiana could be impacted by the United States’ issuing a worldwide terror alert. Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne says State Police has been very involved in staying up to date with various security agencies and in keeping residents and visitors safe. He hopes this terror alert won’t have a prolonged impact on Louisiana tourism…

Morgan City Police have arrested two people accused of using fake movie prop money to make purchases. They say 22-year-old Vanisha August and 20-year-old Detrell Coleman are charged with monetary instrument abuse in separate incidents. The bills are marked “Motion Picture Use Only”, but authorities are finding bills with the notice covered in ink. Similar complaints about fake money have also been lodged in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Assumption Parishes.
