Sophomore Malachi Dupre led the team in receiving during the regular season as he caught 39 passes for 602 yards and 6 touchdowns. Dupre says LSU’s passing game is still a work in progress…

Grambling Quarterback Johnathan Williams has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week. Williams threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns, he also ran for a score in Grambling’s win over Southern in the Bayou Classic. Grambling plays for the SWAC Crown on Saturday in Houston against Alcorn State.

The LSU men’s basketball team is failing to execute. The Tigers dropped their third straight last night as they lost at Charleston 70 to 58. LSU shot a season low 31-percent from the field. Freshman Antonio Blakeney was 0-for-9.

Also last night, ULM beat Chattanooga 64-54. Senior Majok Deng had 22 points as he was 8-of-12 from the field and six-of-six from the free throw line.

Tonight Louisiana Tech takes its undefeated record to Memphis where they’ll face the Tigers. Northwestern State is at Arkansas, Nicholls hosts Louisiana College and Loyola is at Southeastern.

The Pelicans are back home tonight to take on the Memphis Grizzlies. Guards Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole are expected to play for the first time this year tonight. Evans has been sidelined since undergroing knee surgery in October, while Cole has been battling a high ankle sprain. Tip-off from the Smoothie King Center is at 7 Pm.

Governor Bobby Jindal and Governor-elect John Bel Edwards will host a joint press conference this afternoon following their meeting at the Governor’s Mansion. Jindal is expected to give Edwards a tour of the mansion and they will discuss the transition process. Edwards will be sworn in as Louisiana’s 56th governor on January 11th.

A clerk for the town of Oakdale is under arrest accused of taking money people brought in to pay their water bills. Authorities allege that Breanne Nicole Johnson took more than $4,300 from water bill payments and another $300 from money designated for rental for a city building. Oakdale Police report that about 88 customers were affected. Johnson denies the allegations. She was relieved of her duties and booked into the Allen Parish Jail charged with theft of more than $750.

Bossier City Police say a 25-year-old man is under arrest after a 3-year-old in his care sustained a severe head injury. Few details are known, but when Brandon Fox and the child’s mother brought the little girl to the emergency room, hospital official contacted police in regards to the child’s injuries. After their investigation, Fox was arrested on a charge of second degree cruelty to a juvenile. The child remains hospitalized in critical condition.

AAA fuel analyst Don Redman says statewide gas prices could go as low as $1.60 by the end of the month. McNeese State is getting ready to host Southland Conference rival Sam Houston State in the second round of the FCS playoffs. The Cowboys are a four-seed in the tournament and received a bye into the second round, while the Bearkats beat Southern Utah in a shootout 42-39. McNeese Coach Matt Viator hopes the week off will not hurt their play for Saturday’s game…

Majok Deng’s 22 points helped lift ULM over Chattanooga 64-54.

The LSU men’s basketball team dropped their third in a row last night, losing to the College of Charleston 70-58. The Cougars jumped out to a 22 point halftime lead and held on in the second half. Ben Simmons led the Tigers with 15 points and 18 rebounds followed by Tim Quarterman’s 14 points. LSU falls to 3-3 on the season. The Tigers will look to snap their losing streak Wednesday night when they host North Florida.

LSU sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris did not finish the season strong as he struggled in November and didn’t perform well in the win over Texas A&M. Harris completed just seven passes for 83 yards and he was intercepted once in the win over the Aggies. Coach Les Miles says Harris looked much better earlier in the season…

Redman says the earlier forecast by the US Department of Energy showed that by December we’d be looking at a national average of about $2.00, but it seems it will be even lower than that. LSU coach Les Miles will keep his job after Athletics Director Joe Alleva announced The Mad Hatter would return next season, even though it was widely speculated that Saturday would be Miles’ last game. Tiger Rag Editor Cody Worsham says it appears LSU President F King Alexander stepped in and now many are calling for Alleva to be fired for the way this was handled. But Worsham doesn’t think that will happen…

Today marks the end of the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane season and it was quite favorable for Louisiana as no storms threatened the state. He says some are wondering if we’re moving into a period of less severe hurricanes…
