But state climatologist Barry Keim says what happened last month is not enough to tell us anything about climate change.

PJ’s Coffee is expanding internationally into Vietnam. Chief Development Officer for Ballard Brands, PJ’s parent company, David Mesa, says they are on the heels of launching a coffee house in Malaysia as well, and are excited to give other countries the chance to taste Louisiana coffee.

Mandeville Police have made another arrest in connection with the rape of a female resident at a memory care facility. Last week 58-year-old Jerry Kan was arrested for first degree rape of a 78-year-old resident at Beau Provence, and Officer Becky White says 55-year-old Julie Henry had evidence of the incident.

White says Henry also failed to report the rape after she was informed about it by the staff.

LSU football fans will not see Mike the Tiger out on the field during home games this season. Ginger Guttner with the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine says Mike will stay in his habitat on game days because of health concerns after he was treated for cancer in June. But she says fans will still be able to see the live mascot.

Guttner says the treatment appears to have been successful, but they are continuing to monitor him.

Researchers say the 1,000-year flood that devastated south Louisiana last month may have been intensified by climate change. State climatologist Barry Keim did not participate in this report, but says in a warmer world, the atmosphere can produce bigger storms.:

It’s considered a team friendly deal for the Saints as it frees up salary cap space. Brees also remains one of the highest paid players in the NFL and it gives the two sides a chance to agree to a new deal in 2018.

NOAA researchers say man made climate change contributed to the torrential flooding that killed 13 and damaged 150-thousand homes last month. State Climatologist Barry Keim did not participate in this report, but he says warmer sea surface temperatures is connected to global warming and warm Gulf waters helped strengthen the tropical wave that produced the unusual amount of rainfall….

Four schools have been put on a fiscal watch list by a committee of the Louisiana Board of Regents because they are in poor financial health. The four schools are Southern University of New Orleans, LSU Health Sciences-Shreveport, Grambling State and Southern University at Shreveport. Leaders at the four schools have been asked to provide a corrective action plan by September 21st.

Detectives have released surveillance pictures of three men who stole thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise from a store during the historic floods in August. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the group looted the Walmart on O’Neal Lane on August 14. They added the thieves got away with more than $34,000 in items. Anyone with information about the break-in or the identities of the suspects is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
