LSU announces that its opening game next season against Miami, originally scheduled for Saturday September 1st, will now be played the following Sunday on ABC as part of ESPN’s five-day college football kickoff weekend showcase. There’s a new reality TV show based in northeast Louisiana and this one is called Rednecks 4 Hire and airs during the weekend on the C-W channel. The show follows David Yelton and his two friends as do nasty jobs that nobody wants to deal with and cameras don’t stop rolling, even if one of them gets hurt….

There are at least two restaurants which say they are no longer going to broadcast future NFL games because of the protests. They are Sarita’s Grill and Cantina in Denham Springs which says the programming will be barred until further notices. WOW Cafe & Wingery of St. Bernard in Chalmette also said on social media that decided to turn the Saints Panthers game off on Sunday because some players chose to sit during the anthem.

The Violence Policy Center says a new report shows that Louisiana ranks in the top five for women who are murdered by men. It found that in 2015, the state has the third highest rate in the country. Executive director of the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Mariah Wineski, says state and federal law prohibit many abusers from possessing firearms, but Louisiana lacks any consistent process for actually implementing these prohibitions..:

It’s a show where three men do disgusting jobs for residents who have problems with things like rodents, bee hives, beaver damns, and just about anything. Senator Susan Collins announced Monday afternoon that she will oppose the GOP’s latest plan to overhaul the Affordable Care Act. This means that the bill co-authored by Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy likely has no chance of passing.

Ten Saints players sat on the bench during the national anthem prior to the team’s win over Carolina, now a state lawmaker says it’s time for Louisiana to stop giving the professional franchise taxpayer dollars. St. Francisville Representative Kenny Havard says these players have a right to protest, but they should not do it during the anthem….

Dozens of NFL players didn’t stand during the anthem following comments made by President Donald Trump at a rally in Alabama. Mr. Trump said the NFL should fire players who sit or knee during the anthem. Saints QB Drew Brees disagrees with the President….

But Brees wishes the protests for social inequality didn’t involve sitting during the anthem.

A 10-year-old was killed and a teenager was injured in a shooting that happened last night in Lake Charles. Deputy Chief Mark Kraus says this is not a case where two children were playing with a gun and it accidentally discharged. He says someone shot these kids….

The 10-year-old child that died is Jaylyn Citizen and the 17-year-old is in stable condition, after undergoing surgery.

On the US House floor, US Representative Ralph Abraham praised six Winnfield high school football players who served as a pallbeares for a World War II veteran, who did not have any living family members. Abraham says the students actions speak volumes….
