The man accused of killing former-NFL player Joe McKnight has been indicted for second-degree murder. 54-year-old Ronald Gasser was charged with manslaughter on December 5, four days after the apparent road rage incident. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says the upgraded charge comes after the grand jury looked at all of the evidence.

The next time a strong tropical storm or hurricane threatens the coastal United States, the National Hurricane Center will issue storm surge watches and warnings.

When Ronald Gasser was arrested in December by Jefferson Parish deputies he was booked on a manslaughter charge. If convicted, Gasser would receive a life sentence. A manslaughter conviction carries a maximum sentence of 40 years.

That’s according to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s office. 54-year-old Ronald Gasser was originally charged with manslaughter, but the D-A’s office says they’ve been able to develop additional evidence regarding the case. Gasser’s bond has been increased to 750-thousand dollars.

Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome announced today that police officers in her city will be required to give verbal warnings before they use lethal force. It’s just one of several policy changes announced by Broome who is trying to improve police-community relations following the Alton Sterling death. There’s been talk of replacing the police chief, but Broome says not right now…

The Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s office says Ronald Gasser has been indicted on one-count of second-degree murder in the apparent road rage shooting death of former NFL player Joe McKnight. Gasser was booked in early December on a charge of manslaughter. But Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick says since the arrest, additional evidence has been developed and it was presented to a grand jury. Gasser cooperated with authorities after the shooting.

A storm surge watch will be issued when there’s the possibility of life-threatening rising water moving inland within 48 hours, for a warning 36 hours.
