Louisiana appears to be out of the path of Hurricane Michael.  The storm may have a dangerous impact on the Florida Panhandle with storm surge, heavy rainfall, and hurricane-force winds. National Weather Service New Orleans Meteorologist Bridgette Lim  says although Michael isn’t an issue this time around for Louisiana, it’s important to remember hurricane season isn’t over until November 30^th.

Deshotel says when the victim came forward in 2004, the Bishop at the time, Michael Jarrell, requested a ruling from the “Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith”, who said since since the victim was 16-to-17 years old, she was an adult under Canon Law. But Deshotel says state law would have considered her minor…

Deshotel admits the victim first brought her claims to the Lafayette Diocese in 1994 and again in 2004, after a zero-tolerance policy went into effect in 2002. But Deshotel says he was first made aware of the accusations on September 18th…

In 2004 the victim was ruled to be an adult by church Canon Law because she was 16 when the alleged abuse occurred.

And State Police Spokesperson Lt. Nick Manale says they’re reviewing body camera footage from the ofiicer involved shooting of a man in Hammond two weeks ago to see if it backs up witness statements.
