Roberts was named one of the 50 greatest women in broadcasting history, and in 2015 she spoke with Jim Engster about the ongoing struggle for women’s equality.

Roberts was quintessentially New Orleans and may have lived in D.C. for work but loved to come back and visit her mom, former Congresswoman Lindy Boggs at her Bourbon Street home.

Her father, Congressman Hale Boggs, was presumed dead in 1972 after his plane disappeared in the Alaskan wilds.

Gasoline prices are on the rise following attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities.  The current statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.22, about a nickel higher than last week. AAA fuel analyst Don Redman says many Louisiana motorists are seeing the price at the pump spike.

Redman expects the prices to continue to rise in response to the attacks, but will be more in line with last year’s price point.

Tropical Depression 11 has formed off the coast of Texas and it’s expected to produce heavy rainfall in southwest Louisiana. National Weather Service Meteorologist Rob Megina says they expect total rainfall accumulations of over an inch through Thursday night
