Governor Edwards and Wanhua Chemical Group have announced Louisiana will be the site for a one-point-two-five billion dollar chemical manufacturing complex.  It will be built in St. James Parish on 250 acres and is expected to create 170 direct jobs with an average annual salary of just over $80-thousand dollars.

 

Les Miles is back as a college football coach. The “Mad Hatter” has a five-year deal with the Kansas Jayhawks that will pay the 65-year-old two-point-seven million dollars a year. Miles says he’s been eager to coach again, since LSU fired him in September of 2016

New Orleans will go after its 10th straight win when they host Atlanta on Thanksgiving night.

The Pelicans have won four of their last five as they host San Antonio in the Smoothie King Center tonight. Anthony Davis has scored 40 or more points in his last two games. Bad news regarding point guard Elfrid Payton. The team announced he’ll undergo surgery tomorrow on a fractured finger and Payton will miss about six weeks.

Eighth ranked LSU has one regular season game left and its this Saturday versus Texas A-and-M. A ten-win season and a berth into a New Year’s Six bowl game is on the line for the Tigers. Coach Ed Orgeron knows his guys will be ready….

The “Mad Hatter” has a five-year deal with the Kansas Jayhawks that will pay the 65-year-old two-point-seven million dollars a year. Miles won 114 games at LSU and boasted a 77-percent winning percentage. But his critics said his run-oriented offense couldn’t win the big game in today’s college football. The Department of Children and Family Services is teaming up with the United Way in an effort to expand workforce training for food stamp recipients in seven southeast Louisiana parishes.  DCFS Secretary Marketa Garner Walters says the partnership expands who can receive federal dollars to be used to reimburse programs for the cost of training with SNAP recipients.

LSU Health New Orleans Allergy expert Dr. Sanjay Kamboj says they ran the experiment on 372 children.

LSU Health New Orleans Allergy expert Dr. Sanjay Kamboj says it’s not for light allergy sufferers, and you won’t be scarfing down PB&J’s, but, you could eat something cooked in peanut oil.

Two thirds of the participants who took the treatments saw positive results, but roughly 20 percent of participants had to drop out, and 14 percent of those taking the treatment had episodes that required epinephrine, vs only 6 percent of those who took the placebo.

The funeral is set for a police officer in Slidell who died Saturday from injuries suffered in an on-duty motorcycle in September while he was escorting a funeral procession.  The services for Officer Jason Seals will be held Wednesday at noon.  He was survived by his wife and three young children.

Researchers have developed a new drug that can help those who have a life threatening reaction to peanuts. That’s by slowly introducing a non-fatty peanut protein in small batches. Kamboj says they ran the experiment on 372 children.

Progress on the federal Farm Bill may be frozen in place after a midterm switch that’s set to divide Congress. Congressman Ralph Abraham is hoping the lower chamber can pass work requirements for food stamps while Republicans still have a majority in the House.
