In Tangipahoa Parish, investigators are looking into claims that a female teacher at a school was involved in a sexual relationship with a student that resulted in a pregnancy and recent birth. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a now 17-year-old student allegedly fathered the child. The teacher recently resigned from her position.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal is modifying the statewide burn ban…

That’s state fire marshal spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue, who says the modified burn ban also allows local fire chiefs to grant burn permissions. The statewide burn ban was first issued on August 7^th and re-issued on August 25th. The modified order goes into effect tomorrow at 5 p.m.

The state’s first all-female officiating crew will call the Glen Oaks at Parkview Baptist football game tonight. Louis Metevia with the Baton Rouge Area Football Officials Association says he recruited ladies from across the state to be a part of the historic night.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal is modifying the statewide burn ban. Spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says the biggest change is that each parish will be able to opt out based on moisture levels and the threat of wildfires.

Next month clemency hearings will begin for some 20 death row inmates hoping Governor Edwards will commute their sentence from a death sentence to life in prison. Today a Baton Rouge judge is hearing a request from several local district attorneys to halt the clemency hearings. Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says the constitution allows the Pardon Board to conduct its business the way they want…

Five major candidates for governor will participate tonight in a televised debate on Louisiana Public Broadcasting. The frontrunner, Republican Jeff Landry will not participate. Landry will attend a “meet and greet” in Lake Charles to raise campaign money.

The active burn ban order re-issued on August 25^th which prohibits all private burning is being modified. The new modified order will allow parishes to opt out of the statewide burn ban. State Fire Marshal spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says even if your parish decides to opt out of the burn ban continue to keep safety first.
