It’s official! Will Wade is returning to Baton Rouge as LSU’s men’s basketball coach four years after being fired for recruiting violations. With that, LSU has fired Matt McMahon after leading the Tigers to an overall record of 60-and-70, including just 17 wins in the SEC, and no NCAA Tournament appearances. LSU will owe McMahon an $8 million buyout.

The speculation of a Will Wade reunion heated up when Heath Schroyer left his post as McNeese athletic director for a job at LSU as Senior Deputy AD.

According to multiple reports, Wade has signed a seven-year deal and is expected to have a roster budget exceeding $12 million.

Meanwhile, just one year after UNO brought in Percy “Master P” Miller to support its basketball program, the partnership has ended. Miller served in an unpaid, volunteer advisory role as president of basketball operations, helping facilitate fundraising efforts as the program improved from 4–27 last season to 15–18 this year.

The second-seeded LSU Lady Tigers are preparing for a Sweet 16 rematch against third-seeded Duke. Since Duke lost to LSU in December, it has won 21 of its last 23 games. The Blue Devils have also improved on the defensive end, allowing only 55.7 points per game since giving up 93 to the Tigers. Schwartz says the Tigers will have to do several things to advance to the Elite Eight on Sunday.

The Senate Governmental Affairs Committee kills a resolution that would have required those running for Congress to live in the district they’re running in. It’s a day many LSU basketball fans have been waiting for. Will Wade is returning to be the Tigers head coach again. Wade was the head coach at LSU from 2017 to 2022 and in those five seasons, the Tigers went to the NCAA Tournament three times.

Wade’s old boss at McNeese is also headed to LSU as Cowboys athletics director Heath Schroyer will be a Senior Deputy AD at LSU as of April 11th.  Jim Gazzolo, who covers McNeese athletics for the American Press, says what Schroyer did for McNeese is remarkable…

With Wade returning to LSU that means Matt McMahon is out of a job. McMahon went 60-and-70 in his four seasons at LSU and no NCAA Tournament appearances.

LSU is launching a four-year degree program in A-I this fall.

A reunion between LSU and men’s basketball coach Will Wade is happening as McNeese announces athletics director Heath Schroyer has accepted a job at LSU as Senior Deputy AD. Jim Gazzolo covers McNeese athletics for the American Press and says Wade would not leave North Carolina State for LSU if Schroyer is not at LSU…

Schroyer hired Wade as McNeese’s head coach in 2023, a year after he was fired at LSU for committing NCAA recruiting violations.

Schroyer arrived on campus in 2018 as the Cowboys head basketball coach. He was elevated to Athletics Director in June 2020, during the middle of the COVID pandemic and right before two major hurricanes that struck southwest Louisiana. Gazzolo says what Schroyer did once he got the A-D job is remarkable…

Cut 5 (15) “…Schroyer.”

Schroyer will remain the AD at McNeese until April 10th, and then Deputy AD Bridge Martin will become the interim AD.

Wade’s return to LSU means Matt McMahon’s four year run as the Tigers men’s basketball coach is over. He went 60-70 in four seasons at LSU.

LSU will soon be launching a bachelor’s degree program in artificial intelligence. The four-year program is the first of its kind in Louisiana. James Ghawaly (guh-WALL-ee), an assistant professor of science and engineering at LSU, says this degree program goes well beyond simply how to use A-I.

Along with building new A-I technologies from the ground up, students will also learn the ethics of using A-I, which Ghawaly says is standard procedure in most engineering programs these days. He says students will also learn how to detect whether video content was created using A-I.
