Is today Lane Kiffin’s final game as the head coach of Ole Miss.  The seventh ranked Rebels play Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl at 11 AM today. A win for the Rebs and they secure a spot in the College Football Playoffs. But Kiffin may not coach them in the postseason.

ESPN Baton Rouge’s Matt Moscona believes Kiffin will be introduced as the new head coach of the Tigers next week, but if Kiffin decides to stay at Ole Miss or goes to Florida, it’s hard to say who is plan B…

The Cajuns need a win tomorrow to reach bowl eligibility. U-L Lafayette hosts ULM at 2 PM. The Warhawks are trying to snap a seven game losing streak.

Moscona believes relations in Oxford may have soured enough to prevent Kiffin’s return.

Kiffin has been the obvious number one candidate for the Tigers since firing head coach Brian Kelly. Last week Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported LSU offered him a 7-year $90 million contract with a promise to invest at least $25 million into his roster each year. Moscona says there’s no such thing as a sure thing in coaching searches.

If Kiffin decides against coming to Baton Rouge, Moscona says things get a little more hazy. He says LSU’s first target would have been Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz, but support for his call to Baton Rouge has dwindled.

Weeks has been sidelined much of the second half of the season with what he just revealed was a broken ankle, not the bone bruise initially reported. Weeks says he broke the ankle in the week 5 loss to Ole Miss. He returned in a limited capacity last week and says the pain won’t stop him from taking the field against a top ten team.

The regular season finale will give the Tigers a chance to reach eight wins this season, the lowest mark for LSU since 2021. Weeks, though, says a bad record won’t stop the Tigers from giving their best each and every week.

Louisiana Tech will close out the season at Missouri State tomorrow. The Bulldogs already clinched a bowl appearance, but head coach Sonny Cumbie says his team still has a lot to play for. LA Tech is just 1-and-4 on the road this season, and he says this is their last chance to play road spoiler.

The Bulldogs have been led by their dominant defense all season, but they gave up nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to Liberty last week. Missouri State and running back Shomari Lawrence have another potent rushing attack they’ll need to stop.

Southeastern head coach Frank Scelfo spoke to WWL’s Mike Detillier about the Lions’ outstanding season and FCS playoff matchup with Illinois State tomorrow. The 9-and-3 lions are led by a dominant defense featuring lineman and Southland Conference Player of the Year Kaleb Proctor and Southland Defensive Player of the Year linebacker KK Reno. Scelfo says this is a special team.

The drama over whether former LSU football coach Brian Kelly will receive his entire buyout of nearly 54-million dollars is over. Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger reports that LSU has informed Kelly they are firing him without cause and he’ll receive his 54-million dollars in monthly payments over the next six years.

An Angola death row inmate is back in Monroe after a district judge granted him bail. Jimmie Duncan was convicted in 1998 after prosecutors convinced a jury he raped and drowned his girlfriend’s toddler in a bathtub. But Duncan’s attorneys have shown enough forensic evidence that fourth Judicial District Court Judge Alvin Sharp ruled he should be released on a 150-thousand dollar bond. Prosecutors, including the Attorney General’s Office, are asking the State Supreme Court to overturn the trial court’s recent ruling.

Sixty-four high school football teams practiced this morning as they are preparing for their quarterfinals games tomorrow night. The defending state champions in Division Three select, the Catholic High New Iberia Panthers are visiting top-seeded Lafayette Christian. The LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says Catholic has a had a great year, but this could be the end of the road for the Panthers…

Tomorrow is the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. Wallethub’s Chris Lupo warns that discounts this year may not be as potent as they seem. Some retailers will raise prices before discounting them while prices on other items like electronics have increased due to tariffs and a lackluster economy. He says shoppers need to do their homework.

The Louisiana high school quarterfinals kick off tomorrow night across the state. Top-seeded Lafayette Chirstian will host Catholic High of New Iberia in the Division III select bracket. The Panthers are defending state champs and went 10-and-2 this season but LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett thinks their time may be running out.

LSU officially notified Brian Kelly he was fired without cause yesterday and will owe him the full amount of his $54 million buyout. School officials argued the timing of and reason for Kelly’s firing to lessen the buyout cost for which Kelly filed suit against the school. Kelly will receive monthly payments over the next six years as long s he’s making  good faith effort to find a job. The resolution comes just days before Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is set to announce his future plans.

Southern is hiring New Orleans native and Pro and College Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk to be the new head football coach. 52-year-old Faulk is a former NFL MVP and three-time Offensive Player of the Year and has spent his only year of coaching as the running backs coach at Colorado this season. He’ll replace coach Terrence Graves who was fired after a 1-and-6 start to this season.

The Pelicans fell short in overtime, losing a 133-128 contest to the Grizzlies last night. Jose Alvarado led the team with 24 points, and the Pels had eight players reach double figures. The loss knocks New Orleans down to 0-and-4 in NBA Cup play, 1-and-6 under interim head coach James Borrego, and 3-and-16 this season.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team earned a dramatic 75-73 victory over Indiana State yesterday. After the Sycamores tied the game on a leaning corner three with 23 seconds to go, Bulldogs guard DJ Dudley hit a contested jumper in the paint to take the lead with just one second left on the clock. Tech improves to 3-and-2 on the season and will host Alcorn State Saturday.

The event is more than just a football game Dottie Beletto with the Bayou Classic says there are several activities surrounding the matchup, including a business competition for students, a Black Small Business showcase, and there will be a Fan Festival on Saturday beginning at nine am.

Bayou Classic Weekend is a big one for the Crescent city as more than 200-thousand people make the trip to New Orleans for the game and all that surrounds it.

Something all those people will likely be talking about is who will reportedly be Southern’s new football coach.  It’s Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.  The New Orleans native has served as Colorado’s running backs coach this season.
