Aneesah (uh-NEE-suh) Morrow had her nation-leading fifth double-double, 23 points and 16 rebounds. Coach Kim Mulkey says Morrow’s hard work is paying off…

LSU could be without both of its starting guards as Garrett Dellinger and Miles Frazier are listed as questionable.

The Pelicans have so many injuries, the line-up they put on the floor to start the game last night was unrecognizable. New Orleans lost to Cleveland 128 to 100 as former Ragin Cajun Elfrid Payton played in his first NBA game in more than 2 years and had 11 points and eight assists.

The River Bell Classic is tonight in Thibodaux as Nicholls hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 6 PM. The all-time series is tied at 17. Lions Coach Frank Scelfo says it’s a game fans of the respective schools look forward to each year…

Nicholls is 4-and-7, while S-L-U is 6-and-5 and need to win for a chance at making the F-C-S playoffs. The road team has won the last six matchups.

In women’s basketball…Flau’jae Johnson had 25 points and 12 rebounds as the Lady Tigers topped Tulane 85 to 74.

In men’s hoops…23rd ranked Texas A-and-M dribbled past Southern 71-54. And Towson took down Nicholls 70-64.

 

Saints star Taysom Hill earned NFC has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week as he had three rushing touchdowns against the Browns.

The LSU football team is on its first three-game losing streak since 2021 and Coach Brian Kelly is receiving a lot of criticism from the fan base. The SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum was on Tiger Rag Radio last night and says Kelly is not in jeopardy of losing his job, but he better win next year…

A win for Southeastern Louisiana could land them an at-large berth in the F-C-S playoffs.

LSU Police are looking for whoever stole approximately 40 championship rings from former gymnastics coach D-D Breaux’s on campus office. Breaux retired as coach in 2020 and still works for the university in an ambassador role. Breaux says whoever stole the rings was apparently only after the rings and nothing else.

Breaux says they were probably taken during the day of the Alabama game as the athletic administration building is very busy on gameday.

The LSU men’s basketball team defeated Charleston Southern 77 to 68 last night to improve to 4-and-0. The Tigers will take on Pitt on Friday afternoon in a tournament in West Virginia.

The Ragin Cajuns men’s hoops team is headed to the Virgin Islands to play Liberty. U-L Lafayette lost last night to Rice 83 to 61.

The Pelicans visit the 15-and-1 Cavaliers. New Orleans is 4 and 11 and decimated by injuries. They signed former Cajun Elfrid Payton today to help their depleted backcourt.

Saints tight end Taysom Hill has been named the NFC’s offensive player of the week after scoring three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns.

The Louisiana Tech football team is fresh off an upset win over Western Kentucky and this Saturday they are at Arkansas. The Razorbacks are led by quarterback Taylen Green. Bulldogs Head Coach Sonny Cumbie says containing the athletic signal caller will be top priority…

When LSU hired Brian Kelly as head coach in 2021, SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum called Kelly an elite coach. Kelly led the Tigers to back-to-back 10-win seasons his first two years but this season the Tigers have fallen short of playoff expectations. The injury riddled Pelicans visit Dallas tonight in their second NBA Cup matchup. The 4-and-10 Pels are still missing six key contributors but will hope to replicate their upset over the Nuggets in their first Cup game last Friday. Tip-off is at 7:30.

The LSU football team will be playing for pride and bowl position over the last two weeks of the season. At 6-and-4, the Tigers have failed to live up to expectations for the third year under Head Coach Brian Kelly. Kelly says his team is better than the record shows, but close losses have defined the season…

The University High football team’s season ended days before the Cubs were set to appear in their first playoff game. District Court ruled in favor of the LHSAA yesterday which ruled two of the team’s Liberty High transfers were ineligible and ordered U-high to forfeit seven of its wins. The two-seeded Cubs had a first-round bye and their opponent Booker T. Washington will advance to the Division II select quarterfinals.

Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes was named National League Rookie of the Year last night. The Pirates first overall pick finished the season with an 11-and-3 record, 1.96 ERA, and 170 strikeouts. Skenes was also named an All-Star starter this season, earned an ALL-MLB selection, and is a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award.

Last night, the McNeese men’s team rallied back from a seven-point deficit in the second half to beat North Texas 68 to 61. Sincere Parker scored 12 of his game-high 18 points in the final 5:44.

Southeastern Louisiana held on to beat ULM 70 to 67. Louisiana Tech clobbered Mississippi College 105 to 67 as Daniel Batcho scored a career-high 38 points.
