The Saints are short on cornerbacks heading into Sunday’s game against Carolina. Alontae Taylor is the only healthy cornerback on the active roster as Marshon Lattimore, Kool-Aid McKinstry and Rico Payton all missed practice yesterday. New Orleans has signed veteran Tre Herndon to the practice squad.

Tulane improved to 5-and-0 in the American Athletic Association with a convincing 34 to three win over Charlotte last night. Sophomore Makhi Hughes rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

ULM is looking to bounce back from a loss to South Alabama last week by knocking off Marshall in Huntington, West Virigina tomorrow afternoon. The Thundering Herd are 15th in the nation in rush offense. Kick-off is at 2:30.

It’s also another big night for High school football tonight…as Airline battles Byrd and Teurlings Catholic takes on ST. Thomas More.

The Tigers will host Alabama next Saturday night in Baton Rouge. The loser will suffer their third loss and basically eliminated from C-F-P consideration.

Saints Quarterback Derek Carr says he hopes to return to action this Sunday against the Panthers in Carolina. Carr has been out since injuring his oblique October 7th late in their loss to the Chiefs. Carr says he had a great day of practice Wednesday and should be ready to go Sunday.

Carr hopes his return will result in the end of a six game losing streak.

Tulane is in action tonight as the Green Wave visit the Charlotte 49ers. The Green Wave are undefeated in the American Athletic Conference trying to keep up with Army and Navy, who are also undefeated, while Charlotte is 2-and-2 in league play and have lost back to back games to Navy and Memphis. Kick-off is at 6:30.

The NFL game is tonight is the Texans versus the Jets.

ULM is coming off its first Sun Belt defeat as the Warhawks were defeated by South Alabama 46 to 17. But Coach Bryan Vincent says his team is not dismayed

Saints quarterback Derek Carr returned to practice yesterday after missing the last three games with an oblique injury. But cornerback Marshon Lattimore and running back Kendre Miller did not practice yesterday because of hamstring injuries.

In an interview on WWL Radio, General Manager Mickey Loomis says Owner Gayle Benson has expressed concern about how the losing streak is affecting the team and the fans. Loomis says that makes everyone more determined to turn this around,

The Pelicans season is mirroring the Saints. The Pels won their first two games and now they’ve lost three in a row as New Orleans dropped its second straight game to Golden State last night., 104 to 89. Rough night for Zion Williamson as he only scored 12 points.

There’s still a lot of talk about whether LSU was prepared for Texas A-and-M’s backup quarterback. Marcel Reed helped ignite a second-half comeback against the Tigers by using his legs. Coach Brian Kelly says it was a lack of execution, not preparation…

Louisiana Tech’s troubles on offense continued last night as the Bulldogs lost at Sam Houston State nine to three. Tech turned it over four times and a change at quarterback could not produce any points. Tech is now 3-and-5 on the season and will host Jacksonville State for homecoming on November 9th.

A big factor in LSU’s loss to Texas A-and-M on Saturday was the Tigers inability to stop back-up quarterback Marcel Reed. The Aggies second string signal caller helped provide a spark for A-and-M to rally back from a ten-point deficit. Coach Brian Kelly’s staff has been criticized for not being prepared for the possibility that Reed would play, since he has started multiple games this year. Kelly spoke about their preparation for Reed during SEC Coaches Zoom call…

Offensively, the Cajuns got on the scoreboard with a 64-yard touchdown run from Dreyln Washington in the first quarter. Ben Woolridge threw a touchdown pass to Caden Jensen. Woolridge threw for 252 yards and rushed for another 39 yards. U-L Lafayette is in a great position to play in the Sun Belt Championship game.

Louisiana Tech’s offensive struggles continued last night as the Bulldogs lost to Sam Houston nine to three. Coach Sonny Cumbie made a change at quarterback, but it still didn’t produce any touchdowns. Tech is now 3-and-5 on the season and will host Jacksonville State a week from Saturday.

After a tough loss to Texas A&M in College Station, the LSU Tigers have two weeks to prepare for their game against Alabama. After practice yesterday, Head Coach Brian Kelly talked about the team’s lack of running game against the Aggies.

Grambling Coach Mickey Joseph has been fined five-thousand dollars by the SWAC for his criticism of the officials. During yesterday’s zoom conference call involving all of  the league’s coaches, Joseph expressed his unhappiness about the seven penalties his team drew for 104 yards in Saturday’s touchdown loss to Texas Southern…

And Joseph says starting quarterback Myles Crawley will miss the next two to three weeks with an undisclosed injury. Grambling is at Bethune Cookman this Saturday. Both teams are 1-and-3 in league play.
LSU and Alabama has been set for a 6:30 PM kick-off on November ninth. Some betting sites have the Tigers a slight favorite, while others have the Crimson Tide favorite by as much as 2.5 points.

Allen is optimistic that starting quarterback Derek Carr will return this Sunday from an oblique injury that has sidelined him the last three games. New Orleans will be in Charlotte this Sunday to the face the lowly Panthers.

Former LSU star Jayden Daniels is the talk of the NFL as he led the Commanders to an 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears. Daniels, who was playing with bruised ribs, sailed a Hail Mary pass on the final play of the game that bounced into the hands of Noah Brown for an improbable victory. The Commanders are now six and two and there’s talk about Daniels in the running for M-V-P.

Texas A-and-M quarterback Marcell Reed was named SEC co-freshman of the week for igniting a come from behind win over the LSU Tigers in College Station last Saturday. Reed completed two passes for 70 yards and rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns. Reed came in for an ineffective Conner Weigman and it looked like the Tigers were not prepared for a running QB. For the second straight week, Nicholls linebacker Jake Dalmado has been named Southland Defensive Player of the Week. Dalmado had four sacks in the win over McNeese. Dalmado has seven sacks in his last two games.
