Cornerback PJ Williams is expected back in New Orleans after spending the night at a New York area hospital to have his spine checked. Williams was carted off the field after reportedly losing consciousness. Payton says Williams is expected to be fine, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be available for next Monday’s game against the hated Atlanta Falcons. The Dirty Birds are 1-and-1 after beating Oakland 35-28 yesterday.

There is some good news regarding cornerback PJ Williams, who was carted off the field after reportedly losing consciousness. A source says Williams be fine after suffering a concussion.

The other good news is that no one in the NFC South has a winning record, Tampa Bay was thumped by Arizona 40-7 to drop to 1-and-1. Carolina and Atlanta are also 1-and-1 after winning yesterday.

LSU’s Leonard Fournette’s return to the field from an injury on Saturday night was a mixed bag. He scored two touchdowns and rushed for 147 yards, but he also fumbled twice. Coach Les Miles says his star running back will get better with hanging on to the ball…

The Pelicans have announced the signing of guard Lance Stephenson. Saints Coach Sean Payton said today that they had to cut running back CJ Spiller, because they needed to open a roster spot so they could sign a cornerback to replace the injured Delvin Breaux. Breaux is out six weeks with a broken fibula. B-W Webb who has some NFL experience was signed to add cornerback depth. The release of Spiller means the Saints lead the NFL in the amount of dead money, meaning the amount of money the franchise is paying to players who are not on their team.

Breaux was one of three Saints players who did not practice today. The other two are linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, with a quad injury and tight end Josh Hill with an ankle injury. Tackle Terron Armstead was limited with a quad.

The Pelicans announced the signing of free agent guard Lance Stephenson. Stephenson split time last season with the Clippers and Grizzlies and averaged eight points and three rebounds a game. During the 2013-14 season, he led the NBA in triple-doubles with the Pacers, but hasn’t been the same player since.
