Baylor is led by former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, and the 8-and-4 Bears have won their last six games.  LSU will hold its first practice in Houston on Saturday.

The Ragin Cajuns and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are already at their bowl destinations. U-L Lafayette will face T-C-U on Saturday afternoon in the New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, while Louisiana Tech will take on Army in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport on Saturday night.

Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler was 15 of 30 for 153 yards and an interception. Rattler was also sacked three times and fumbled once. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi says there was some good things Rattler did, but also a lot to work on…

The Ragin Cajuns have arrived in Albuquerque for Saturday’s New Mexico Bowl game against TCU at 1:115, This is U-L Lafayette’s seventh consecutive bowl trip and will practice today at the University of New Mexico’s Indoor Facility and then some of the players will visit the U-N-M Children’s Hospital.

Tonight the Pelicans take on the Houston Rockets looking to snap a seven game losing streak. Houston has the second-best record in the Western Conference.

Cajuns Head football Coach Michael Desormeaux received a new five-year contract after leading UL-Lafayette to a Sun Belt West title and conference championship appearance. The third-year coach led the Cajuns to a 10-and-3 season following back-to-back 6-and-7 seasons. Desormeaux had two years remaining on his original contract. The Ragin’ Cajuns will take on TCU in the New Mexico Bowl Saturday.

LSU football coach Brian Kelly has made good on his promise to be aggressive in the portal as the Tigers have signed 13 new transfers thus far. Kelly says Tiger fans have played a big part in that. The Tigers coach challenged the fanbase earlier this month when he launched the Kelly Family Million Dollar Match Challenge, matching up to one million dollars in donations given to LSU’s NIL collective.

The LSU women’s basketball team dropped to sixth in the most recent AP poll despite their perfect 14-and-0 record. Undefeated UCLA held on to the top spot followed by South Carolina and Notre Dame. USC jumped to 4th following their big win over now 7th-ranked UConn, and Texas sits one spot ahead the Lady Tigers at 5th. LSU will close out non-conference play against Albany Sunday.

Rookie Spencer Rattler was 15 of 30 for 153 yards and an interception in his fourth start of the year. The 5-and-10 Saints have two games left and the final home game of the season is this Sunday against Las Vegas.

Ragin Cajuns football coach Michael Desormeaux has received a new five-year contract after leading U-L Lafayette to a Sun Belt West Title.  Desormeaux had two years left on his original contract. The Cajuns take on TCU in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday.

LSU football coach Brian Kelly has done a lot of shopping during this holiday season in the transfer portal as the Tigers program has signed 13 players. According to 2-4-7 sports, LSU has the second-best transfer portal class.

To increase dollars for LSU’s NIL collective, Kelly launched the Kelly Family Million Dollar Match Challenge, matching up to one million dollars in donations to the Tiger Athletic Foundation for every dollar that’s donated to LSU’s NIL collective.

Kelly says the big donors have also increased their contributions to LSU’s NIL collective, but it’s the grassroots support that has been really encouraging…

The LSU’s women’s basketball team is 14-and-0, but actually fell one spot to number six in the AP Top 25 poll. UCLA is number one followed, by South Carolina, Notre Dame, USC and Texas. The Lady Tigers host Albany on Sunday in the final nonconference game.

LSU also brought in a new starting tight end in Bauer Sharp from Oklahoma.

The Pelicans dropped their seven straight game losing to Denver 132 to 129 in overtime. C-J McCollum had a chance to win it in regulation, but missed a three-pointer. The Pels have not won since December fifth and they are now 5-and-25 on the season.

LSU men’s basketball improved to 10-and-2 with an 86 to 70 victory UNO yesterday. Guard Cam Carter had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Vyctorius Miller came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points.

McNeese outscored U-L Lafayette ten to one over the final 4-minutes and 47-seconds and beat the Cajuns 64 to 56. Cowboys Coach Will Wade is now 2-and-0 against the Cajuns in his two seasons at McNeese…

Sunday was a good day for a couple of former LSU quarterbacks. Jayden Daniels threw five touchdown passes for the Commanders as Washington came from behind to beat Philadelphia 36 to 33.  Joe Burrow threw three touchdown passes as the Bengals beat up the Cleveland Browns 24 to 6. J’Marr Chase set a franchise record for receiving yards in a season, eclipsing 15-hundred.

LSU Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier spoke to reporters about his decision to come back for a fifth and final season. If Nussmeier entered the NFL draft, he would have likely been a second-day selection. Nuss is hoping to improve on what he did in 2024, so that he can be a first round pick in the 2026 NFL draft…

Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels led the Commanders back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Eagles 36 to 33. Daniels threw five touchdown passes and led the team in rushing with 81 yards.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw for 37-hundred yards and 26 touchdowns this season and led the Tigers to eight victories. Nussmeier had the option to enter his name in the NFL draft, but the Lake Charles native says there’s still more to do at LSU…

Nussmeier will likely have a new starting center next season as Braelin Moore from Virginia Tech has signed with LSU. Moore started at center for the Hokies this year and will have two years of eligibility left.

Disappointing end to the season for the Tulane Green Wave as Florida beat the Greenies 33 to 8 in the Gasparilla Bowl.

It will be Georgia versus Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day night. The Fighting Irish easily beat Indiana 27 to 17 to advance to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff.

ULM Coach Keith Richard (Ree-shard) will retire at the end of the of the season. Richard, who is a former player at the school, has been the Warhawks head coach for 15 seasons and led the school to four postseason appearances.

Tomorrow, LSU men’s basketball will host UNO. The Tigers are 9-and-2 while the Privateers are two and eight.

U-L Lafayette athletics director Doctor Bryan Maggard says it was their plan for head men’s basketball coach Bob Marlin to coach the team the rest of the season. Marlin was fired yesterday during the middle of his 15th season for the Cajuns. Maggard says he spoke with Marlin earlier this week and told him he would have the opportunity to coach the team the rest of the season, but the school would announce this week that he’s retiring…

ULM men’s basketball coach Keith Richard is retiring at the end of the season. The Warhawks announced today that this will be Richard’s last season. He’s a former player, an assistant coach and he’s been the head coach at ULM since 2010.

ULM says head football coach Bryant Vincent has agreed to new salary terms and Warhawk athletics are increasing the football coaching staff salary pool.
