Moore will have a big decision to make on whether quarterback Derek Carr will return next season, but former LSU Tiger Clyde Edwards-Helaire is coming back on a one-year deal.

The Pelicans ended a ten-game losing streak by beating Sacramento in overtime. Louisiana Tech shot 34-percent from the field in a loss at home to Kennesaw State 69-47. ULM also lost to Texas State.

It’s opening day for college baseball. LSU is a consensus preseason Top 5 pick, despite have a bunch of new players. Senior out fielder Josh Pearson will experience his fourth opening day at the Box and has told the new guys what to expect…

Louisiana Tech begins the 2025 season by hosting Maine for a four-game series beginning today at 4 PM. The Bulldogs won 45 games last year and a Conference USA regular season title. Ninth-year head coach Lane Burroughs believes he has a talented team, but there are a lot of new faces…

Thirty-six-year-old Kellen Moore was introduced today as the 19th head coach in Saints history. During his introductory news conference, Moore said when he interviewed for head coaching positions, it became apparent to him that New Orleans was where he wanted to be.

A major decision facing Moore is whether to keep Derek Carr as the Saints starting quarterback. Moore says he plans on meeting with all of the players before making any decisions, but said he has great respect for Carr and what he’s done in the NFL…

Carr is 33-years-old and is set to make 30-million dollars next season. Cutting him would result in 50-million dollars in dead money on the books next year.

 

LSU Baseball Coach Jay Johnson has announced Kade Anderson will be his starting pitcher for Friday’s season opener against Purdue Fort Wayne. Anderson is looking to build on a good freshman campaign. He’s added nearly 25 pounds since arriving at LSU and is throwing harder as a result. Anderson is also working on his secondary pitches…

First pitch on Friday is at 2 PM. LSU has moved up the start time for Game two to 11 AM.

In college basketball tonight…Louisiana Tech will try to win its ninth straight home game as the Bulldogs host Kennesaw State. ULM is also home as they face Texas State.

LSU-A, who is ranked number one in the NAIA coaches poll, hosts Our Lady of the Lake tonight. The Generals are 23-and-1 and they’ve clinched a second consecutive Red River Regular Season title.

Former LSU baseball star Alex Bregman has found a new home. Bregman has signed a three-year, 120 million dollar contract with the Boston Red Sox. He’s leaving Houston after helping the Astros win two World Series Championships.

It’s believed LSU has enough pitching to win a national championship this season. Opening day is tomorrow and sophomore left hander Kade Anderson will start in the season opener, UC San Diego transfer Anthony Eyanson will start on Saturday and Chase Shores will start on Sunday, his first start since undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2023. In basketball…the losing continued last night for the Pelicans, LSU and the Ragin Cajuns.

Spring football begins next month for LSU and the Tigers list former Lafayette Christian star JuJuan Johnson as a quarterback. Johnson set a Louisiana record for 14,451 total yards and 171 total touchdowns while starting for four years at quarterback at L-C-A. He started at LSU as a cornerback, moved to running back during the season and had seven carries for 14 yards and five catches for 22 yards during his freshman campaign.

Louisiana Tech will look to win its ninth straight home game tonight when it hosts Kennesaw State inside the Thomas Assembly Center for a 6:30 PM tip. Both teams are 6-and-5 in Conference USA play and the Bulldogs lost to the Owls back on January 18th at their place. Coach Talvin Hester is looking forward to the rematch…

Sophomore left-hander Kade Anderson will get the start on Friday when the Tigers open the 2025 season against Purdue Fort Wayne. Anderson, who is from Madisonville and prepped at St. Paul’s High School says it means a lot to get a chance to start on Fridays

Anderson appeared in 18 games last season, made nine starts, and finished with a 4-2 record and 3.99 ERA.

Former LSU star Alex Bregman is officially leaving Houston as the free agent third baseman has signed a three-year 120-million dollar contract with the Boston Red Sox. That’s one of the highest average annual salaries in the big leagues.

Kellen Moore will be introduced today as the Saints new head coach. Moore and his family took in the Pelicans game last night and saw the Birds lose their 10th straight game, 119 to 111 to the Sacramento Kings.

The LSU men’s basketball team’s losing streak grew to seven games last night with a 70 to 58 loss to Arkansas. The Tigers at Oklahoma. The Sooners are also struggling, they lost at Missouri last night.

The Ragin Cajuns lost at home to Troy 74 to 56 to fall to 8-and-18 on the season.

Tonight ULM hosts Texas State, Louisiana Tech takes on Kennesaw State in Ruston.

Louisiana Tech women’s basketball is at Kennesaw State. The Lady Techsters are 6-and-5 and in fourth place in Conference USA. Coach Brooke Stoehr says there are seven games left in the regular season and still time to move up the standings…

New Orleans-dot-football reporter Mike Triplett says the Saints were the last team to fill their head coaching vacancy, but their patience paid off in landing an up-and-coming coach who just won a Super Bowl…

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association is urging parents to keep their cool in the stands after an ugly incident at a girls’ basketball game last week. A mother of a Red River High School player left the stands and verbally assaulted a referee after her daughter was ejected for committing a flagrant foul. LHSAA Director Eddie Bonine says kids look to adults to set the tone…

The Pelicans and the LSU Tigers will try to end long losing streaks tonight. The New Orleans Pelicans have lost nine in a row as they host the Sacramento Kings. LSU has lost six in a row heading into tonight’s game against Arkansas.

What Moore will do with quarterback Derek Carr is a big question? If New Orleans releases Carr that would cost the Saints 50-million dollars in dead money and only one million dollars in salary cap relief according to the Advocate.

The LSU men’s basketball team is at Arkansas tonight. The Tigers are 1-and-9 in league play and that one win came against the Razorbacks. The Hogs are 3-and-7 in league play. Tip off is at 8 PM.

LSU junior first baseman Jared Jones is on the 2025 Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch list. He’s also ranked by D-1 Baseball-dot-com as the top first baseman in the country. Jones belted 28 home runs last year, drove in 59 runs and hit .301. Coach Jay Johnson expecting big things from Jones this year…

Kellen Moore is the new head coach of the Saints after helping the Philadelphia Eagles win their second Super Bowl. Moore was the Eagles offensive coordinator and he’s been an offensive coordinator for six seasons in the NFL. Moore also spent six years in the NFL as a quarterback and he was a record-setting Q-B at Boise State. Mike Triplett with New Orleans-dot-Football says Moore brings a good resume to the Saints…

Moore will be introduced as the Saints head coach on Thursday. It’s rumored that Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier could be the Saints offensive coordinator and former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley as the defensive coordinator.

127.7 million people watched the Super Bowl and Fox Sports says it’s the most watched Super Bowl ever. Governor Jeff Landry says New Orleans should host the Super Bowl every five years.

The Pelicans host the Kings tonight in the first of a back-to-back before the All-Star break. Herb Tyler is out for the year with a shoulder injury.

A new college baseball season starts in two days and Coach Jay Johnson has a deep and talented team that will take some time to sort out everyone’s roles…

Johnson says Steven Milam will start at shortstop and Michael Braswell will move from short to third. The coach says he also wants to find at-bats for infielder Tanner Reaves, who has shown the ability to get on base.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has agreed to be the Saints next head coach. The 36-year-old is leaving Philadelphia after helping the Eagles win their second Super Bowl in franchise history. An official announcement is expected soon.

In high school football coaching news…Jimmy Zachery is leaving his alma mater Opelousas to be the next head coach at Liberty Magnet High School in Baton rouge. Zachery guided Opelousas to its first state championship in football in 2023 and a quarterfinal appearance last season. Zachery told the Advocate he wants to coach at the 5A level and he takes over a program that’s won just six games over the last three seasons.

College basketball last night…Southern lost its first SWAC game, Northwestern State rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat Nicholls 72 to 60 in Thibodaux. McNeese’s Christian Shumate had 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Cowboys defeated East Texas A-and-M 67 to 51. Southeastern won its fourth straight by beating Houston Christian 69 to 60.

This weekend is the opening weekend for college baseball and LSU has a stacked outfield in 2025. Coach Jay Johnson says he has as many as eight guys who can start in the outfield including sophomore Jake Brown, who hit .264 during his freshman campaign…

The Pelicans took on the team with the best record in the NBA last night and it was not much of a game as expected. Oklahoma City made a team-record 27 three pointers on its way to a 137 to 101 win over New Orleans. The Pelicans have lost nine in a row and will host Sacramento tomorrow night

In college basketball last night…McNeese improved to 13 and 1 in the Southland with a 67 to 51 win over East Texas A-and-M. Christian Shumate had 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Northwestern State snapped Nicholls four-game winning streak by beating the Colonels 72 to 60.

Jakevion Buckley had 35 points as Southeastern Louisiana defeated Houston Christian 69 to 60.

Southern suffered its first loss in SWAC play losing to Alabama State 82 to 81. Grambling upended Alabama A-and-M 72 to 61.

LSU women’s hoops is fifth in the latest AP Top 25 poll and will visit third ranked Texas on Sunday.

The Eagles defense put together one of the greatest Super Bowl performances of all time as they kept Kansas City out of the end zone until late in the third quarter in a 40 to 22 win over the Chiefs. Former Saint Zack Baun returned to his old stomping grounds and intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass late in the 2nd quarter to set up a touchdown that put the Eagles up 24-nothing at halftime.

Mahomes threw another interception that was returned for a touchdown. The man behind the Eagles game plan is defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Fangio was the Saints linebackers coach for the famed Dome Patrol in the 1980s and 1990s. It was Fangio’s first Super Bowl title as a coordinator.

Philadelphia offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is expected to be the next Saints head coach. It’s unclear when an official announcement will take place. Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni wants Moore to stay and be part of the repeat effort, but Moore is still expected to take the Saints head coaching job.

Kailyn Gilbert scored 23 points as the LSU women’s basketball team defeated Tennessee for a second time this season, beating the Lady Vols 89 to 87. Gilbert entered the game in a shooting slump, making only eight of her last 53 shots. Gilbert says the extra time she spent in the gym paid off…

The Lady Tigers are now 10-and-1 in SEC Play, tied for first place with South Carolina and Texas. Texas beat South Carolina yesterday, ending the Gamecocks 57-game SEC winning streak. LSU will visit Texas on Sunday.

Tonight…Nicholls, who has won four in a row, will host Northwestern State at 6:30.

The Pelicans are at Oklahoma City tonight in the biggest mismatch of the night in the NBA.

Louisiana Tech 2025 football schedule is out. First conference game is September 13th as the Bulldogs will host New Mexico State.
