LSU has lost its defensive line coach to the Saints. Bo Davis is leaving his alma mater after one season and his departure comes with spring football right around the corner.

The fifth-ranked LSU softball team stayed undefeated today with a 2- 1 win over fourth ranked UCLA in Fullerton, California. Sydney Berzon was the winning pitcher and Tori Edwards and Sierra Daniel each had RBI singles.

The seventh ranked LSU women’s basketball team is at 20th ranked Alabama. The Lady Tigers are looking for win number 28 on the season, which would be a program record for most regular season wins.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team finds itself in seventh place in Conference USA and the top six teams get a bye in the upcoming league tournament. Coach Talvin Hester is more concerned about how his team is playing…

The second-ranked LSU baseball team showed off its depth last night in a seven to three win against 19th-ranked Dallas Baptist in front of 57-hundred fans at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Tigers took control with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by two pinch-hit RBIs. An RBI double from Ethan Frey and an RBI single from John Pearson. In between those two hits, was a two-run home run from Daniel Dickinson. LSU will stay in Texas for the weekend and they’ll play in Frisco tomorrow against Kansas State.

The Ragin Cajuns and Northwestern State were also winners last night.

The 7th ranked LSU women’s basketball team faces another ranked opponent on the road tonight. The Lady Tigers are at 20th ranked Alabama. LSU is 27-and-2 on the season and a win tonight would give the Lady Tigers their most wins ever in a regular season. Alabama is 22-and-6, 9-and-5 in the SEC.

Spring football is right around the corner and LSU is losing its defensive line coach as the New Orleans Saints are reportedly adding Bo Davis to their staff. Davis was the highest paid defensive line coach in college football as Coach Brian Kelly convinced him to leave Texas to coach at his alma mater. But now Davis is returning to the NFL. He was previously the Detroit Lions D-Line coach from 2018 to 2019.

A Baton Rouge lawmaker is preparing to file a bill for the upcoming regular session that would make NIL deals tax free for college athletes, meaning they will not have to pay state income taxes on them. State Representative Dixon McMakin says the proposal would help Louisiana schools attract and retain top talent.

Other states, including Illinois, Alabama, and Georgia, are pursuing similar legislation. The 2025 legislative session begins on April 14th.

The second-ranked LSU baseball team handled its first major test of the season well last night as the Tigers defeated 19th-ranked Dallas Baptist seven to three at Globe Life Field in Arlington. Derek Curiel scored three times and Daniel Dickinson drove in three runs including a two-run homer in a four-run fifth inning. Connor Ware started and retired the first 12 hitters he faced. Casan Evans got the save as he pitched out of trouble in the eighth and was dominant in the ninth. LSU will play Kansas State in Frisco on Friday afternoon.

Also, the Ragin Cajuns outscored Southeastern Louisiana nine to seven. Tate Hess struck out a career-high seven and earned the win, Conor Higgs hit his second home run of the season. And Northwestern State defeated Alcorn State 10 to 5.

Basketball…the Ragin Cajuns lost to Arkansas State 83 to 64 and UNO is involved in a gambling scandal involving four of its best players, which is why they haven’t played since late January.

It sounds like Derek Carr will be the Saints quarterback next season, based on comments made by General Manager Mickey Loomis and head coach Kellen Moore at the draft combine in Indianapolis. Moore says the Saints are fortunate to have Carr. It’s still possible that the Saints will try to adjust Carr’s contract to free up more salary cap dollars.

The NFL says it will use a virtual measuring system to determine first downs in 2025. The chain gains will still be used as backups.

In the upcoming regular legislative session, Baton Rouge Representative Dixon McMakin says he will propose a bill that calls for earnings through NIL deals to be exempt from state income taxes.  McMakin says schools outside of Louisiana are recruiting the Bayou State’s best prospects and tax-free NIL compensation can help athletes decide to stay home.

For the second consecutive game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Pelicans found themselves down by double digits but still came back to win. Last night in the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans trailed by 19 points but played well in the second and fourth quarters to beat the Spurs 109 to 103. The University of New Orleans men’s basketball team is under investigation for sports gambling. Four of the top five Privateer players have not played since January 27th and the school confirms they have been suspended, but is not releasing any more information. College basketball analyst Jeff Goodman was the first to report about a possible sports betting scandal at the school.

Eight pitchers for the McNeese Cowboys last night combined to throw 16 strikeouts in a three-to-nothing win over I-10 rival U-L Lafayette. The Cowboys are now 6-1, the best start to the season for skipper Justin Hill. The Ragin Cajuns fall to 4-and-4 on the year.

U-L Lafayette men’s basketball will go after its fourth straight win when it hosts Arkansas State tonight at 7:30. The Cajuns have held their last three opponents to 69 points or less and interim head coach Derrick Zimmerman says defense has been the key…

LSU baseball followed up its first loss of the season on Saturday with back-to-back blowout victories. The Tigers defeated Nicholls 13 to 3 yesterday. Steven Milam drove in a career-high five runs, and William Schmidt picked up the win in his first collegiate start. LSU faces 19th-ranked Dallas Baptist tomorrow in Arlington.

The UL Lafayette baseball team is at McNeese tonight after sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday from 23rd ranked Nebraska. Coach Matt Deggs says after dropping the series opener on Friday night, he loved the energy of his team on Saturday….

Stevan Milam has busted out of a mini-slump. Milam had three hits on Saturday night and two more hits last night, including a three-run homer as he drove in a career-high five runs. The Tigers are in Arlington tomorrow night to face 19th ranked Dallas Baptist.

ULM had chances in the eighth and ninth innings last night but lost to Little Rock five to three to fall to four and three on the season.

Tonight, the Cajuns are at McNeese, La Tech hosts Lamar, and Tulane is at Nicholls.

The McNeese men’s basketball team won its second consecutive Southland regular season championship last night as the Cowboys defeated U-T-R-G-V 100 to 65. Senior Christian Shumate had his 39th career double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Northwestern State rallied from a double-figure deficit to beat Southeastern Louisiana 72 to 69 in Hammond. Love Bettis had a career-high 18 points for the Demons.

Michael Gray scored 22 points as Nicholls took down Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi 71 to 69.

After losing to third ranked Florida on Saturday, LSU hosts fifth ranked Tennessee tonight at the PMAC. Tigers Coach Matt McMahon says the Volunteers are tough defensively.…

The Tigers host Nicholls tonight. The Colonels are 5-and-2 and coming off a sweep of Little Rock. ULM hosts Little Rock tonight. The Warhawks are 4-and-2 and junior outfielder Bryce Blaser is off to a hot start at the plate, 10-for-20 with three extra base hits.

The Saints have reportedly hired New Orleans native Terry Joseph as their defensive backs coach. The graduate of Shaw High School has been an assistant coach in college since 2006. Most recently he was the University of Texas’ defensive passing game coordinator.

The LSU women’s basketball team had its biggest road win of the year on Sunday as the Lady Tigers rallied from 16 down in the second quarter to beat Kentucky 65 to 58. It was win number 750 in Coach Kim Mulkey’s career and she didn’t know that she reached that milestone until after the game…

The LSU Lady Tigers flip the script from last week as they went into Lexington and defeated Kentucky, 65-58. Last week at Texas, LSU blew a 12-point third quarter lead in dropping their second game of the season. Yesterday, the Lady Tigers stormed back from down 16 late in the second quarter and outscored them 23-6 in the third to take control of the game. After the game, Coach Kim Mulkey said they didn’t make too many adjustments after halftime.

The McNeese men’s basketball team can win an outright Southland regular season championship with a win over U-T-R-G-V tonight at the Legacy Center. Tip time is at 6 PM.

Shaw graduate Terry Joseph has reportedly been named the Saints passing game coordinator. Joseph has been a longtime assistant on the college ranks.
