LSU has decided to send freshman right-hander Landon Marceaux to the mound tonight when the Tigers face Stony Brook in the Baton Rouge Regional opening round. Marceaux on what coach Paul Mainieri told him

Marceaux has battled arm injuries this season, but he’s been great in his last three starts, posting an ERA of 1.45 Stony Brook will send right-hander Greg Marino to the mound, he’s 5-4 with a 5.10 ERA.

McNeese will open play in the Nashville Regional at noon against second-seeded Indiana State. It’s the Cowboys first NCAA Tournament game since 2003. Southland Conference Tournament MVP Aiden Anderson will get the start today.

Southern will take on Mississippi State at noon at Dudy Noble Field. Both teams can hit the ball, the Jaguars led the SWAC with a team batting average .315.

The LSU Board of Supervisors will consider today contract extensions for the football team’s strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffit and receivers coach Mickey Joseph.

LSU’s first two home football games this season will kick-off at 6:30, August 31st versus Georgia Southern and September 14th against Northwestern State.

The Ragin Cajuns game against Mississippi State in the Superdome will kick off at 11 AM on Saturday, August 31.

When Louisiana Tech hosts Grambling State on September seventh. That game will be televised by the NFL Network. Tech will be the first Conference USA team to appear on the NFL Network since the announcement of the partnership between the league and network.

At Saints O-T-A’s, guard Larry Warford has missed the last two weeks rehabbing an unknown injury. Coach Sean Payton hasn’t said what the injury is.

The SEC Spring Meetings ends today, the presidents and chancellors could vote today on alcohol sales at games.

The NFL Network will also televise the Louisiana Tech-Southern Miss game on October 19th. That will also be a 2:30 kickoff in Ruston.

McNeese and Southern have arrived at their NCAA Baseball Regional Destinations. The Cowboys baseball team arrived in Nashville wearing cowboy hats, boots and Mardi Gras Beads. They’ll face Indiana State tomorrow afternoon. Southern faces Mississippi State at noon on the SEC Network. Jags third baseman Tyler LaPorte was named a third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball today.

LSU’s first two home football games will kick off at 6:30. The Tigers open the season against Georgia Southern on August 31st, two weeks later, Northwestern State visits LSU for another 6:30 kick-off.

Pelicans executive vice president David Griffen reportedly sat down with Anthony Davis yesterday. Griffen is trying to see if Davis wants to stay in New Orleans, but there are reports out there that say A-D is still looking for a trade.

Former LSU star Tasmin Mitchell has been named as a fulltime assistant for the Tigers basketball team. Mitchell was the director of student-athlete development this past season. Mitchell replaces Tony Benford who left for an assistant job at TCU.

McNeese State will face Indiana State at noon in Nashville. Walk-on and Sulphur native Will Dion will be a key for the Cowboys. He’s had a big season out of te bullpen, a 5-0 record with six saves and an ERA of 2.12.

For the first time since 2012, CBS has not set its day-night doubleheader for the date of the L-S-U-Alabama game. That means if CBS chooses to televise the Tigers and Crimson Tide game on November ninth it will be a 2:30 kick-off, instead of seven PM. CBS has decided to hold its day-night doubleheader on September 21st. On that day, Georgia hosts Notre Dame.

Pelicans executive vice president David Griffen had his sit down discussion with Anthony Davis yesterday and ESPN reports the dialogue will continue. Griffen has said he wants to see if Davis is willing to re-commit to New Orleans, especially now that the franchise is on the verge of drafting Duke superstar Zion Williamson. The Athletic website reports that Davis is still looking for a trade out of New Orleans.

The LSU-Alabama football game will not be a CBS primetime game this year. Instead the network has decided to televise an SEC night game in September. It’s expected to be the Norte Dame-Georgia game. The SEC Showdown between LSU and Alabama has been shown on CBS at night since 2010. CBS could still televise the big game, but it will kick-off at 2:30, instead of 7 PM.

LSU Baseball Coach Paul Mainieri is expected to announce tomorrow who will start in Friday night’s game against Stony Brook. Cole Henry, Eric Walker and Landon Marceaux are options to get the ball.

Proponents to legalize sports betting are disappointed as it appears legislation to bring the gaming activity to Louisiana’s casinos and racetracks will not pass before the session ends June 6th. Wade Duty is the executive director of the Louisiana Casino Association…

So many amendments have been added to the sports betting bill that the casino association has dropped its support for the legislation. As it stands now, it doesn’t appear the votes are there to get the proposal approved before the legislative session concludes June 6th.

The Saints have signed a couple of running backs, Javorius Allen and Matt Dayes. Allen rushed for 12-hundred yards and eight touchdowns during four seasons in Baltimore. He also caught 129 passes. Dayes played on special teams for the 49ers last season.

Wade dodged questions about the reported FBI wiretap that said he made a strong offer to sign Javonte Smart. But says mistakes were made when he made the decision not to speak with LSU officials about that allegation…

Attorney Michael McGovern advised Wade not to talk with LSU officials in early March and that led to a suspension that lasted until April 14th.

Wade is back with the Tigers basketball program and so is Emmit Williams . The six-foot-six forward has removed his name from NBA draft consideration. He was one of six Tigers to enter the draft and four have them decided to return, Williams, Javonte Smart, Marlon Taylor and Skylar Mays.

McNeese is in the NCAA Baseball Tournament for the first time since 2003 as the Cowboys will face Indiana State on Friday afternoon in Nashville. LSU will face Stony Brook on Friday night in a rematch of the 2012 Super Regionals that was won by the Seawolves. The Sun Devils are the two seed and they lead the country with 91 home runs. The Golden Eagles are the three seed and they are led by Matt Wallner and his 21 home runs.

McNeese State is a three seed in the Nashville Regional and the Cowboys will face Indiana State at noon. It’s the Cowboys fifth NCAA Regional appearance and the first since 2013. The other two teams in that regional are top seeded Vanderbilt and Ohio State is the four seed.

The Southern Jaguars are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 10 years and they’ll play Mississippi State at noon on Friday at Dudy Noble Field. The Jaguars won just nine games last season and second-year coach Kerrick Jackson is proud to bring a winner back to Southern….
