LSU fans are still buzzing about yesterday’s wild victory over Auburn. The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to win four to three. The first run came in on a wild pitch and the winning run scored on a throwing error, all happening in a matter of seconds. Giovanni Digiacomo scored the tying run and here’s what he saw…

The win keeps LSU alive in the SEC Tournament. The Tigers will get another shot at Mississippi State after losing to the Bulldogs in 17 innings on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. LSU is thin on pitching, so seldomly used senior Clay Moffit is expected to pitch for the Tigers. First pitch right around 6:30.

ULM is in the Sun Belt tournament semifinals for the first since 2012 as the Warhawks have won three games this week. Last night they trounced UT Arlington 18-5 as Trent Tingelstad drove in seven runs, three of them came on a home run. ULM has the day off in Conway, South Carolina. Tomorrow, they’ll play either UTA or Coastal Carolina at 11:30 AM.

In the Southland, McNeese is two wins away from winning that conference tournament. The Cowboys defeated Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi seven to two yesterday and they’ll play in the semi finals tonight against either U-I-W or Corpus Christi. Southeastern Louisiana edged Stephen F Austin four to three earlier today and they’ll play Central Arkansas at 5 PM.

Former LSU star Travin Dural is back on the practice field for the Saints. He missed all of last season after breaking his humerus in July. Coach Sean Payton on what he’s seeing from the Breaux Bridge native…

LSU is still alive in the SEC Baseball Tournament after a wild 4-3 victory over the Auburn Tigers. Coach Paul Mainieri’s team was trailing by one run in the ninth inning, with runners at second and third base, when a wild pitch and throwing error allowed both runs to score to end the ball game…

The Tigers won the game despite only having a couple of hours of sleep, because their previous game, a 17-inning loss to Mississippi State, ended at three o’ clock in the morning.

And wouldn’t you know, LSU and Mississppi State will play again tonight at around 6:30. The other elimination game today is Arkansas and Ole Miss, which starts at 3 PM.

ULM has advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament Semifinals for the first time since 2012 as the Warhawks flew past U-T Arlington 18-5. Trent Tingelstad drove in seven runs, three came on a home run and he finished with five hits. Ty Barnes threw seven innings for his fifth win of the season. ULM will play again on Saturday in the semis.

U-L Lafayette and Louisiana Tech are done for the season. Troy eliminated the Ragin Cajuns from the Sun Belt Tournament with a 10-7 and Louisiana Tech was two and barbeque at the Conference USA Tournament with a 4-3 loss to Rice. The Bulldogs finish the year with a 34-24 record.

In the Southland Tournament, McNeese has advanced to the championship round of their side of the bracket after dominating seven to two win over Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi. It’s the first time since 2003 that the Cowboys have won their first two games of the torunament.

Southeastern Louisiana is still alive in the Southland Tourney. The Lions eliminated Northwestern State six to four yesterday and S-L-U faces Stephen F Austin this morning at 9 AM.

The LSU Baseball team is still alive in the SEC Tournament after an unbelievable finish this afternoon in Hoover, Alabama. The Tigers were working on very little sleep, but figured out a way to beat Auburn 4-3. The tying and winning runs scored in the ninth inning. It all started with a wild pitch that allowed Giovanni DiGiacomo to score and then a throwing error by the Auburn first baseman who went to retrieve the baseball allowed Drew Bianco to come across and score.

LSU lost a heartbreaker earlier in the day in 17 innings to Mississippi State. The game ended at 3:05 in the morning. It goes down as the longest game inning and time wise in LSU history. LSU will play again tomorrow night against the loser of tonight’s game between Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

LSU is now 2-and-1 in Hoover and it’s still hard to say whether the Tigers have done enough to lock down a host site in the NCAA Tournament. They got some help when Ole Miss beat Texas A-and-M 1-0 earlier today.

The season came to an end today for Louisiana Tech and U-L Lafayette. The Bulldogs lost to Rice four to three in the Confernece USA Tournament in Biloxi. David Leal was the hard luck loser as he threw eight innings of solid baseball. Tech finishes with a record of 34-24.

Troy topped the Ragin Cajuns 10-7 to eliminate them from the Sun Belt Tournament. UL-Lafayette’s record for 2019 is 28-31.

Tonight, ULM, who upset top-seeded Texas State last night, will try to stay in the winner’s bracket when the Warhawks take on UT Arlington. ULM blanked Texas State 8-0 last night and the Bobcats were eliminated by Coastal Carolina today.

In the Southland Tournament, third-seeded Southeastern Louisiana stayed alive with a six to four win over Northwestern State. The Lions scored four runs in the fifth inning. Trey Harrington drove in two runs. McNeese will face Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi tonight after beating UIW last night. Top seeded Sam Houston was eliminated from the tournament.

LSU battled for a school record six-hours, 43-minutes and for 17 innings, another school record, against Mississippi State, but it was the Bulldogs who came out on top six to five in the SEC Tournament. M-S-U was able to push across the winning run thanks to a couple of wild pitches from losing pitcher Ma’Khail Hilliard and then a base hit by Mississippi State rightfielder Gunner Halter.

LSU rallied back from a four to nothing deficit to send the game into extra innings. Giovanni DiGiacomo hit his first home run at LSU, a two-run shot in the eighth to tie the game. LSU took the lead in the 16th inning, but Hilliard gave up a run in the 16th and 17th. The Bayou Bengals will now have to play again at 1 PM in an elimination game against Auburn, after finishing yesterday’s game at 3:03 this morning.

Louisiana Tech is facing a Conference USA Tournament elimination game this morning at 9 AM versus Rice. The Bulldogs lost to Marshall six to four in 12 innings.

ULM pulled off a big upset in the Sun Belt Tournament as the Warhawks blanked top seeded Texas State eight to nothing. Trey Jeans threw a three-hitter, Joey Jordan drove in two runs. ULM will now face fourth-seeded Texas-Arlington at 6:30 tonight. The Ragin Cajuns lost in 13 innings to Georgia Southern, six to five and will play an elimination game this morning against Troy.

In the Southland Tournament, Stephen F Austin blanked Southeastern Louisiana five to nothing, Central Arkansas shutout Northwestern State two to nothing, but McNeese edged Incarnate Word two to one. Aidan Anderson threw his first complete game. Today, S-L-U faces Northwestern State in an elimination game,while the Cowboys will face eight seeded Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi at 7 PM.

In the NBA, the Pelicans Jrue Holiday has been named to the league’s All-Defensive second team.

The NFL is eliminating the single-header rule, which means fans throughout the country will get to see three games every Sunday afternoon.

The LSU baseball team has moved into the double-elimination portion of the SEC Tournament after beating South Carolina eight to six last night. Devin Fontenot threw 4.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to get the win and Cade Beloso drove in three runs, while Josh Smith homered. The Tigers face Mississippi State tonight.

In the Sun Belt, the Ragin Cajuns advanced to play Georgia Southern today, while ULM will face top seeded Texas State tonight after upsetting South Alabama 12 to 7 last night. It’s ULM’s first tournament win since 2014.

Former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu is an alleged victim in a five-million dollar extortion attempt by his cousin, who according to court records threatened to go public with sexual misconduct allegations against the Honeybadger. Mathieu’s cousin allegedly demanded millions from the athlete in hush money. But now his cousin is facing an extortion charge after Mathieu turned him in to the FBI.

The Pelicans chief of basketball operations David Griffen says the hiring of Trajan Langdon as general manager is another sign the franchise is headed in the right direction. Many observors are praising the hiring of Langdon, who just helped Brooklyn get into the playoffs. Next month the team is expected to draft Duke superstar Zion Williamson. Griffin says folks around the league look at the team in a very different light now…

Griffin says he still plans on meeting with Anthony Davis to see if he’s committed to staying in New Orleans.

The NFL owners voted this morning to allow a tweek to the new rule that allows instant replay judges to look at pass interference calls. Instead of having the booth judge determine if a pass interference call should be challenged in final two minutes of half, the challenge would have to come from coaches.

LSU baseball rallied back from a five-to one deficit to beat South Carolina eight to six to advance into the second round of the SEC Tournament. Sophomore right-hander Devin Fontenot was the key as he threw 4.1 shutout innings for his fifth win of the year. Todd Peterson worked the final 2.2 innings for his third save. Offensively, the Tigers had 13 hits, Josh Smith homered and drove in two runs and Cade Beloso had 3 RBIs. LSU plays Mississippi State tonight.

ULM’s Joey Jordan tied a Sun Belt Tournament record with five hits as the Warhawks upset South Alabama 12-7. It’s ULM’s first tournament win since 2014 and tonight they’ll take on top-seeded Texas State at 6:30.

Senior Hunter Kasuls two-run double in the sixth inning snapped a two-two tie and the Ragin Cajuns defeated Appalachian State six to two. UL-Lafayette faces Georgia Southern today.

New Pelicans general manager Trajan Langdon says it wasn’t easy to leave his job as an assistant G-M of the Brooklyn Nets, but he was sold after seeing Owner Gayle Benson’s passion for the team and her commitment to building a long term winner…

The Saints have added depth to their defensive line as the team announces the signing of former Carolina Panthers defensive end Wes Horton. He started eight games for the Panthers last seaosn and during his six seasons, he has 15.5 sacks.

Tampa Bay has released six-time pro bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, but the Bucs have reportedly signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who also reportedly considered the Saints.

U-L Lafayette and ULM are in today’s single elimination round of the Sun Belt Tournament. The Cajuns face Appalachian State in Conway, South Carolina. While the Warhawks will take on South Alabama. ULM senior Chad Bell leads the Sun Belt with 18 home runs.

Louisiana Tech will have to set their alarm clock early. The Bulldogs are the third-seed in the Conference USA Tournament and they are set to face sixth seeded Marshall tomorrow morning at 9:30.

The House Criminal Justice Committee votes 11-to-6 to allow sports betting at the state’s riverboat casinos, racetracks and the land-based casino in New Orleans. Denham Springs Representative Valarie Hodges voted against the bill because she says sports betting can destroy families. But Metairie Senator Danny Martiny says that can happen now and the state gets no benefit from it, because it’s not regulated

The sports betting bill has already been approved by the Senate and it may need a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee to review the fiscal impact to the state.

LSU Basketball Coach Will Wade has landed his first big time recruit since he was re-instated. The school has received papers from Alabama five-star prospect Trendon Watford of Mountain Brook High in Birmingham. He’s rated as the fourth best power forward in the nation by 24-7 sports.

LSU cornerback Kelvin Jospeh entered the NCAA Transfer portal and then took his name out. His father Kelvin Joseph Senior has reportedly said his son is not going anywhere. The four-star recruit out of Scotlandville played in 11 games last season as a freshman and he’ll compete with Derek Stingley for playing time at cornerback this upcoming season.

The Saints offseason program known as O-T-As begins today. The Black and Gold will use this time to build depth at wide receiver. Hopefully Cameron Meredith is healthy this season after catching only nine passes last year. The defensive line is a question mark as well. Defensive end Alex Okafor signed with Kansas City and defensive tackle Tyeler Davison is now with the Falcons and Sheldon Rankins is still recovering from a torn Achilles.

He’s expected to replace Naz Reid in the starting line-up. He’s ranked by 24-7 sports as fourth best power forward in the nation.

LSU sophomore defensive back Kelvin Jospeh has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. 24-7 sports reports that Joseph, who saw a lot of playing time as a freshman, was in classes today with intersession going at LSU. And just because a player enters into the transfer portal, doesn’t mean that player will transfer.

LSU basketball Coach Will Wade has landed his first major commitment for the 2019 recruiting class. Five star power forward Trenton Watford of Alabama has announced he plans on attending LSU and looks like a good replacement to Naz Reid, who is gearing up for the upcoming NBA draft. Watford is listed as the fourth best power forward in the country according to 24-7 sports.

In other basketball news, LSU’s Javonte Smart is returning for his sophomore season. And the Pelicans are receiving praise for hiring Trajan Langdon as their general manager. He’s considered a talented front office man among those who cover the NBA.

The Tigers have an RPI of 21 and according to college baseball analyst Mark Etheridge, teams that have an RPI above 16 usually do not get to host. LSU faces South Carolina tomorrow night in the SEC Tournament and Cole Henry will start after missing about a month with an arm injury.
