In the Southland Conference, Nicholls has one more non-conference game left as the Colonels are at Texas State. Coach Ed Orgeron appeared this morning on the radio show “Off the Bench” which is based out of Baton Rouge and said that linebacker Michael Divinity will miss a couple of weeks after suffering a leg injury in the win over Vanderbilt. And wide receiver Terrace Marshall will be back toward the latter part of the season, after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured foot. LSU’s next game is Saturday, October 5th at 11 AM against Utah State.

The Ragin Cajuns lead the nation in rushing yards with 1,295 and 18 touchdowns. UL-Lafayette ia also second in yards per carry. Trey Ragas is averaging 10 yards a carry, while Raymond Calais is averaging 9.5 yards an attempt. Coach Billy Napier says it’s an unselfish group…

Tommy Hodson and JaMarcus Russell are the only quarterbacks in LSU history to earn SEC Offensive Player of the Week three times in a season. In the first four games, Burrow has more completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns than any player in school history over that span. Coach Ed Orgeron doesn’t see Burrow slowing down

LSU football fans will have to get ready for another 11 AM kick-off. The SEC announced today that the Tigers next game on October 5th, will kick-off at 11 AM against Utah State. An LSU official says they can’t find a time when the Tigers had back-to-back morning kickoffs.

Tigers wide receiver Terrace Marshall underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot. He’s expected to miss up to a month of the season. Quarterback Joe Burrow says Marshall’s absence will be felt…

After spending a week out on the west coast, the Saints flew back to New Orleans after the game. They’ll now get ready to host Dallas for a big Sunday night showdown. The Cowboys are 3-0 after beating the Dolphins 31-6. Dallas is undefeated, but its wins have come against Miami, Washington and the New York Giants, three of the worst teams in the NFL.

After four games, LSU leads the nation in scoring, averaging nearly 58 points a game. The 231 points scored represents an SEC record for most points through four games. The 66 scored this past Saturday against Vanderbilt is the highest ever for LSU in an SEC game that didn’t go into overtime. But the Tigers once-dominant defense struggled in Nashville with missed assignments and poor tackling. Coach Ed Orgeron says they’ll work on it during the bye week…

The Saints pulled off a stunning win in Seattle, beating the Seahawks 33-27 without Drew Brees. New Orleans first touchdown came on a 53-yard punt return by rookie Deonte Harris and the defense scored the second TD on a Vonn Bell 33-yard fumble return. Q-B Teddy Bridgewater and the offense handled the rest. Coach Sean Payton says they were ready to play…

Bridgewater threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns and Alvin Kamara had two touchdowns.

The Saints are in first place in the NFC South at 2-and-1, every other team is 1-and-2. The Colts galloped past the Falcons 27-24, Carolina crushed Arizona 38-20 and Buccaneers blew an 18-point halftime lead and lost to the Giants 32-31.

LSU’s offense remains an offensive force, but questions remain about the Tigers defense after improving to 4-0 with a 66-38 win over winless Vanderbilt. Quarterback Joe Burrow set a school-record with six touchdown passes and he threw for 398 yards, 357 yards in the first half, which is also a school-record….

Elijah Mitchell had three touchdowns as the Ragin Cajuns beat Ohio 45-25. Iowa State blew past ULM 72-20.

Nicholls and Southeastern are 1-0 in the Southland after winning their openers. McNeese and Northwestern State lost their Southland openers and Grambling lost its SWAC opener.

Quarterback Joe Burrow should have another big game throwing the football as the Commodores are one of the worst pass defenses in college football. LSU is only averaging 3.6 yards a carry, but junior running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire says the offense is performing just fine…

Louisiana Tech won its Conference USA opener last night as the Bulldogs defeated FIU 43-31. Justin Henderson had a big night with three touchdowns and 141 yards rushing. Bailey Hale tied a school record with five field goals. Tech’s next game is next Saturday at Rice.

ULM will look for the school’s first-ever win against a Big 12 school when they visit Iowa State. Both teams are coming off one-point losses. The Ragin Cajuns are at Ohio. After scoring 77 points last week against Texas Southern, how will U-L Lafayette’s offense perform today at 1 PM.

Southland play begins today. McNeese is at Abilene Christian. The Cowboys have never lost to A-C-U in six previous matchups. Ninth ranked Nicholls travels to Stephen F Austin to begin defense of its conference title. The Lumberjacks are winless on the season. Southeastern hosts Lamar. The Lions lost by 11 to Ole Miss last weekend, while Lamar is 2-and-1. And Northwestern State is at Houston Baptist. H-B-U has put up a lot of points this year.

Grambling also begins SWAC play today as the Tigers are at Alabama State. Grambling hopes to get its first win of the season.

And then tomorrow its the Saints versus the Seahawks. Drew Brees, Tre’Quan Smith and Sheldon Rankins will not play. But Rankins says he’s close to getting back on the field as he recovers from a torn Achilles.

LSU offensive lineman Ed Ingram is officially back with the Tigers after he was suspended for more than a year. Ingram started 12 games as a freshman at right guard, but didn’t play last season following an arrest in Dallas for alleged sexual assault. The charges have been dropped and he’s back with the team. Ingram is not expected to play in tomorrow’s game against Vanderbilt.

Louisiana Tech begins conference play tonight as the Bulldogs host F-I-U. The Panthers lost their league opener to Western Kentucky two weeks ago and then last week dropped a game to New Hampshire. Tech Coach Skip Holtz says F-I-U has run for a bunch of yards with backup QB Kaylan Wiggins at the helm…

He was arrested over a year ago for aggravated sexual assault, but charges have been dismissed.

Louisiana Tech plays a rare Friday night home game tonight against F-I-U. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz understands Friday is reserved for high school football, but he’ll take the national TV exposure they’ll get on the CBS Sports Network…
