If it were normal times, LSU would hold a spring football game on Saturday. Instead, the players are working out on their own, hoping there will be a football season in the fall. LSU Strength and Conditioning Coach Tommy Moffit says based on what he can tell 60-percent of the players are doing what they should be doing when it comes to staying in shape, but everyone is falling behind…

Moffit says it would take about a month to get players ready for fall camp if the NCAA allows additional organized workout times.

LSU freshman forward Trendon Watford has declared for the N-B-A draft, but he will not hire an agent so he can retain his college eligibility as he goes through the evaluation process. NBA Draft-net rates Watford as the 78th overall prospect and only 60 players are drafted. The Alabama native averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game as a freshman.

ULM All-Sun Belt player Michael Ertel is transferring to U-A-B as a grad transfer. He averaged 16 points a game last season and chose the Blazers after also receiving interest from Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, and Memphis.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst is reporting that the NBA is looking at a 25-day program before the teams re-start the season. Play has been suspended since March 11th and Commissioner Adam Silver says the league will not make a decision until May on when the season will start. But when they do, a 25-day ramp-up period would consist of eleven days of individual workouts and then two weeks of full-team drills.

The New York Post reports that once Saints Quarterback Drew Brees retires he will work for N-B-C. Brees apparently chose NBC over ESPN, who is trying to improve its Monday Night Football Broadcast Booth. The New York Post report says Brees would start as a game analyst on Notre Dame Football and as a studio analyst for “Football Night in America” and could be groomed as a successor to Chris Collinsworth.

Eight former LSU players will participate in the 2020 NFL virtual draft broadcast. This means Joe Burrow, Grant Delpit, Justin Jefferson, Kristian Fulton, Lloyd Cushenberry, Patrick Queen, K’Lavon Chaisson, and Thaddeus Moss will be available for interviews once they are selected. The former Tigers are among 58 players who will participate.

ESPN reports NBA teams are united in an effort to encourage the league to push the draft from June 25th to no sooner than August 1st. Commissioner Adam Silver says a decision on when the season would re-start will not be made until May 1st.

The LHSAA has made the decision to cancel the seasons for spring sports. But what about fall sports? LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine says football teams will receive an extra week of practice since they are missing spring football. Bonine says eligibility issues also have to be addressed…

State and local education leaders have yet to announce policies on determining if a student should advance to the next grade. Governor John Bel Edwards is expected to announce that schools will remain closed for the rest of the academic year. The LHSAA executive committee plans to meet in June to assess the situation at that time.

The X-F-L has laid off all of its staff and there are no plans to resume the league in 2021.

The LHSAA’s 2019-20 athletic season is over as executive director Eddie Bonine cancels the seasons for spring sports. Baseball, softball, track and field and other sports have been on hold since mid-March. Bonine says they hoped that those seasons could resume, but the continuing spread of the coronavirus left them with no choice but to end high school sports for this school year

LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine made it official today, the spring high school sports season has been canceled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The spring sports season was halted in mid-March and today’s decision means baseball, softball, track, and other sports will not resume their seasons.

Will we have college football in the fall? College football insider Brett McMurphy with the Stadium Network says athletics director could choose to have games with no fans in the fall, but they may prefer to wait until spring of 2021 to have games with fans in attendance…

Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to be the first pick in the 2020 draft which is two weeks from tonight. The top prospects can’t attend the draft since it will be fully virtual, a couple of cameras will be inside Burrow’s home so they can get his reaction and conduct interviews after he’s picked. Dozens of other prospects are also expected to have cameras in their homes.

A four-star safety in the 2022 recruiting class has committed to LSU. Bryan Allen Junior from Aledo, Texas reportedly chose the Tigers over Texas A-and-M, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and U-S-C. 24-7 sports rates him as the number two safety in the country and the fifth-best player in the state of Texas in the class of 2022.

The Superdome and Tiger Stadium will be lit up in blue tonight at 8 Pm in honor of healthcare workers. Several other state buildings are doing the same, like the State Capitol and the governor’s mansion.

ESPN will re-air the final round of the 1997 Masters tonight. That was the first time Tiger Woods put on the green jacket.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has canceled the spring sports season. The LHSAA halted spring sports in mid-March and executive director Eddie Bonine has made the decision they will not resume due to the spread of the coronavirus and the possibility the governor will announce schools will remain closed for the rest of the year.

The question is being asked more and more, will there be a college football season in the fall. College football insider Brett McMurphy at the Stadium Network has surveyed the 130 F-B-S athletic directors and he believes the best option is for a football season starting in the spring

That will not happen this year, because it will be a fully virtual draft. Former NFL quarterback great Peyton Manning bought 140 meals from Drago’s Seafood Restaurant to feed health care workers caring for coronavirus patients at the Tulane Health System. In a video message, Manning said he wanted to take a minute to say thank you.

ESPN’s re-broadcast of the “Rebirth” game, the iconic Monday night contest between the Saints and Falcons on September 25th 2006 delivered a ten-point-nine rating with more than 67-thousand household impressions in the New Orleans area. It was the most-watched show in New Orleans on Monday.

But track, golf, and tennis senior athletes will not automatically get scholarships if they return. McClelland calls it a tough decision. He says seniors from tennis, golf and track and field can return, but the coaches will have to decide how to fit them in their normal scholarship limits or they can compete as a walk-on.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban says he finally has his own email address. Saban said he had to create his own email because his wife Terry was tired of getting all of his emails. Saban told ESPN’s Mari Taylor that Miss Terry fired him. Saban says he’s also learned how to use Zoom and FaceTime during this time of social distancing.

We’re about two weeks away from the NFL’s virtual draft and teams are concerned about hacking since a lot of the communication between general managers and coaches will take place over the internet. Also, there are concerns about technical issues that may pop up. In an effort to alleviate concerns, the league and all 32 teams are expected to conduct a mock draft so they can see how it will work.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have unveiled new uniforms. No, they are not going back to the creamsicle colors. The new unis look a lot like the ones they wore last year, the biggest change is with the numerals. These new uniforms are very similar to the ones they wore when they won the Super Bowl in 2002. The Atlanta Falcons are also expected to debut new uniforms next week.

The NFL has released its all-decade team for the 2010s and there’s one current member of the Saints on that squad, defensive end Cam Jordan. New Orleans drafted Jordan in 2011 and since that time he’s recorded 87 sacks, 114 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, ten forced fumbles, and ten fumble recoveries. Former Saints players Darren Sproles and Jahri Evans are also on the team. Quarterback Drew Brees is not on the 2010s NFL All-Decade team. Two quarterbacks were chosen, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. A couple of former LSU Tigers are on the team, Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu.

Former Holy Cross High School and McNeese quarterback James Tabary is among the thousands on the COVID-19 front lines. Tabary is working at the University Medical Center in New Orleans distributing inventory to all doctors and nurses, including personal protective equipment. Tabary is doing so with a heavy heart, his grandfather passed away last week from the virus.

This is supposed to be Masters Week, instead the prestigious major has been rescheduled for November. The first round is set for November 12th at Augusta National. That weekend the Masters will go head-to-head with college football and the NFL.

Major League Baseball is looking at the possibility of starting its season in May, with all of the teams playing their games in the Phoenix, Arizona area. There are a lot of hurdles to leap over for this to happen, like the safety of the players. It would have to require regular testing of the players and still practicing social distancing, which means no mound visits, having players sit in the stands instead of the dugout and using an automated strike zone, instead of the home plate umpire standing behind the catcher.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says he will not make a decision on restarting their season until May. The N-H-L is looking at finishing its season at rinks in North Dakota.

Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy says his plan is to return to their facilities on May 1st.
